I Know Everyone Is Sick Of This Question

Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing a massive drop in sales?

Things died for a while after the increase in FVFs but picked up - But, ever since the lastest "Disaster Release" I've noticed a steady decine to the point where I'm now going days without a Sale. This time of year is normally the other wayaround for me with the lead up to Xmas.

Granted, a lot of my normal return Customers are now contacting me direct because they're sick of paying the high prices I'm forced to charge on Ebay to cover Fees, but there are VERY FEW new Customers coming along.

When they do, I am constantly surprised (and amused) to hear cmments like "I don't trust Ebay anymore", "Ebay is too User Unfriendly" etc. .....

THE BUYERS are telling me that they don't believe in Free Post & in fact even become suspicious when they see something that seems too cheap with Free Post as it usually signals JUNK!!!! They're sick of being ripped off by the Chinese Junk Peddlers & their misleading Listings saying the item is in Australia, only to find it's coming from O/S & will take weeks to get here.

I've taken a wait & see attitude up until now, but alas I'm beginning to wonder if it's all worth it. Some boffin who wouldn't have a clue about my Business constantly telling me what's best for it - what Buyers want when clearly it is not - creating a poisonous atmosphere of distrust by BOTH Buyers & Sellers & so on & so on....

So in the immortal words of "Big Brother" - It's time to go....EBAY!!!!

Sales might be slower on other Sites, or even my own Website, but then, nothing is happening here anymore....

One of my sheep ate my caps button and my ' button (the one next to the enter key). I've tried to remove keys when stuff gets caught under them and can't, yet the sheep can get them off in the blink of an eye.

Thanks for the Feedback everyone...At least I now know it's not just me...

Sadly, I have to report that since originally posting this thread nothing has changed - Only 6 sales totaling less than $120 which is nothing in my game. I have checked to see if my Listings are actually showing & they are - I have also checked to see that my prices are still competative & as far as I can see, they are....but still nothing happening.

I'd like to believe it's the Economy as Ebay tries to tell us, but I know this is not the case because, unlike them, I know my Business & I know it is thriving all over the world, & Australia is right up there with it all.

I have wondered if I was actually stocking & offering the wrong items, but looking at the competition, I know that I am doing it right.

Also since originally posting I've had more Buyers making the comment ( with no prompting from me) that they no longer want anything to do with Ebay for varying reasons - but mainly as I prevously mentioned - high prices that they know are being forced up by the high Fees, and the ever increasing risks they face of being ripped off by the ever increasing number of shonky Sellers that Ebay are making it so easy to flourish here...There was even one who mentioned the new Deals Ebay has done with the likes of Target, The Good Guys etc & his remarks were as others here have said....I can't remember the exact words but it was something like "It only proves that Ebay is no longer worth looking at for either a bargain or buying anything for that matter....I can go to my local Target Store & buy it cheaper. So they've shot themselves in the foot there & are only reinforcing the general opinion that my friends & I have that Ebay is no longer an option when once it was the first place I looked".

So I guess, for me anyway, it's as I said - It's time to go Ebay....Can anyone suggest a good Website Provder with a fairly easy to set up Site?

Those of us that are determined WILL survive without Ebay...As with any Bussiness it's a matter of being flexible enough to change - The thing is that Ebay are on the nose all over the World from what I hear & it's only a matter of time before it will be but a memory. Whether a change of Management will fix it, if they are smart enough to realise the problems, is a big question....It may be too late.

Hi Hamsy, my sales are down massively, too.  Virtually over night my trade on eBay if half of what is used to be. My sales have not been this low on eBay in years. I contacted eBay too see what insight they might offer on this and they sent patronising message back saying perhaps it was competitors, or that perhaps my items were not saleable at this time of year, and that they have no control over what buyers do (duh, well, obviously! - but they do control what buyers SEE!). Usually this is my busiest time of year, and for one key category in my store there are no new competitors. I can only conclude that the 'spring release' is to blame. If only they were more transparent about how their search algorithm works then perhaps we would have a better idea of how to respond.

You're right about being flexible. It's the only way to survive this online selling game! I'll be putting more of my efforts into other websites where I sell my products, including my own, instead of eBay. It's just not a fair playing field here anymore.
