I asked Ebay what new changes have damaged my sales...and they responded...

I just opened a chat with an Ebay representative and asked them "what changes have recently been made that has seen my sales drop by 95-100% this month?" I received the following response

Jean Su. "We have done nothing to destroy any seller's account. It is up to the buyers to buy items and some items are seasonal. Also, there are many sellers nowadays that the competition is very stiff."

....I then mentioned that the drop in sales happened instantly which is neither seasonal nor due to competition being "very stiff" and the response I received was ...dead silence... It appears that rather than tell the truth o a lie Ebay will just go silent and wait for you to go away. So after years of advertising and telling us all to build our own Ebay business and encouraging us to rely on it for our living this is the response we get when they decide we are no longer of any use. I would have some more to say but i have already received 4 warnings from the Ebay moderation team today for speaking out of line. I guess they will shortly send me another dozen or so.....because i know I have been speaking my mind a lot lately. Shame on me.

"So you have had 15 pretty good years, and now after, what 2 months? you are really ripping it up about eBay.

Hey, I know it is frustrating, and eBay could certainly do with a rev up, but think of the sellers like myself who have had 8 good months, and then had to deal with this.

You know what you are doing obviously, your feedback and sales volume is testament to that, so instead of all the doom and gloom maybe you need to just dig in and ride it out the way the rest of us are hoping to do"

I would suggest my 15 years of effort , blood and sweat have given me the right to my opinion. So you put in 8 months and now have to "deal with this?" Did you think before writing this?

I have the right to express myself even if it is 'Doom and Gloom" when I have spent a third of my life building a business only to have it destroyyed overnight. You have lost a few months work by the sounds of it. (part time id gather by your flippant comments) This has been my living and I have a family to support. before this month a daily turnover of $250 was acceptable. I have not now had a sale for 3 days. So pussycat I suggest you dig in and ride it out yourself and I will contiue to "rip it up" as I see fit!

Some of the problem may be e-bay ,but I find the cost of postage is the main problem .I offer free postage on all my listings but sales have still dropped substantially.this could be the economy ,which has been totally mismanaged and people have less money to spend as well as the asian sellers who seem to be able to multilist and sell at apparently stupid prices and very low postage.as some of you have said .if it doesn't work change it .Good luck and positive attitudes to all.

The economy did not up and die on the 31st of May. It is no co incidence that the day Ebay implemented its "improvements" that most Australian sellers sales dropped by 80% or more. It was an intentional sabotage of the Australian market to make way for greater profits from the foreighn sellers with whom Australians can not compete and therefore do not make enough money for Ebay.

3rd world sweatshop, I sincerely hope you are wrong, but It certainly looks that way. I've been selling for 4 years with a steadily growing clientele.

Unlike movie models I am fortunate that I don't rely solely on my ebay income, however it did pay for my daughters to do a few extra curricula activities that could not be covered by my usual income.

I haven't told the girls yet, but at the end of this term, they won't be able to do the extra activities they love unless I can find another source of income. It is as simple as that.

Having your own website and selling on some of the other Australian sites doesn't seem to help as for whatever reason ebay drives traffic. And that traffic is now being directed to the internationals - it is a rather big slap in the face. And as for Australia Post. They should be ashamed and I'm not talking about the post offices and their staff. The management at the top need to look at the international postal agreement and get some guts and level the playing field so we can play.

And I don't mind having a rant either.

Now back to see if I can re-arrange my listings so they can be found. LOL

Yes I am both movie_models and thirdworldsweatshop. Confusing isnt it. I only just revived this old account so I could rename it with this joke username for fun. As for the NPB occassion you are refering to greencat. Take another look. That was 10 years ago and the seller was a scammer who filed a NPB alert on me after i left them negative feedback. They were then removed as a registered user!

Here's my view on EBAY's lack of genuine response to sellers problems with their service. If you want to do something about it, in a few months we will have an election, in the lead up to that election candidates are the most responsive to voters concerns.

So if you want EBAY to provide a proper service Write to your local MP and other candidates expressing your concerns and ask them take up the issue, people like Senator Xenephon are the types of politicians who will pursue organisations like EBAY to address voters concerns, this is the perfect time for such a campaign

.....no sales for 3days straight, listing analytics showing rows of 0 all over the place, particularly for anything listed within the last month, was getting regular sales now nothing, tried talking to support but got a 'you are fully visible' email back, oddly if I sell on my personal account things fly, on my business account nothing!!! I won't be listing anymore stuff until I start seeing stuff move again.
