I asked Ebay what new changes have damaged my sales...and they responded...

I just opened a chat with an Ebay representative and asked them "what changes have recently been made that has seen my sales drop by 95-100% this month?" I received the following response

Jean Su. "We have done nothing to destroy any seller's account. It is up to the buyers to buy items and some items are seasonal. Also, there are many sellers nowadays that the competition is very stiff."

....I then mentioned that the drop in sales happened instantly which is neither seasonal nor due to competition being "very stiff" and the response I received was ...dead silence... It appears that rather than tell the truth o a lie Ebay will just go silent and wait for you to go away. So after years of advertising and telling us all to build our own Ebay business and encouraging us to rely on it for our living this is the response we get when they decide we are no longer of any use. I would have some more to say but i have already received 4 warnings from the Ebay moderation team today for speaking out of line. I guess they will shortly send me another dozen or so.....because i know I have been speaking my mind a lot lately. Shame on me.

The confirmed 'new changes' in Ebay are media announcements that (almost brag) that ebay are saving themselves at least $2 million dollars or more /year by TURNING OFF 400 SERVERS from their over 50,000 that they require to service over 700 million users:

.....and users-buyers and sellers are suffering 'black outs' because of this.....just go onto the discussion boards on USA ebay e.g. Seller Centre and Technical Issues ebay.com and same at UK ebay ebay.co.uk.Also note that ebay decided to ou tsource their server *stuff a year ago-when ALL THE PROBLEMS started!!

Ebay comptr techs are obviously 'sharing' and 'manipulating' the system to intervene when the sheeple and peasants start squealing about 'no views....no sales.....can't list.....can't contact buyer.....can't view home page'...etc etc etc...

Varied access issues to ebay.com.au, ebay.com, ebay.co.uk depending on whether user is using a desk top computer, a lap top, a mobile phone etc....AND which web browser is being used....e.g. IE.....Ffox etc are giving different results from different computers(IE on my desk top okay to access ebay.com.au but FFx from laptop shows 'no listings' for same seller,ebay.com and ebay.co.uk discussion boards reporting same probs but often vice versa i.e. FFx ok and IE issues getting to ebay site...) 

Ebay policy changes last year about 'shilling' that were quietly snuck in-no fanfare.....reckon ebay admin saw the queue of o/seas sweat shop owners comin'....and then this is probably in direct relation to the latest 'push' on sellers to do BIN listings instead of auction listings-I mean how else could control be established/held on rampant listers (the o/seas sweat shop lot)

MMMmn. There are certainly changes afoot. But I am Mad as Hell about servers being turned off ......and *rap service presently being provided to users

Golly thats not very nice! This guy has a legitimate gripe and if its a bit emotive well gee, i feel a bit like that when it comes to my livelihood. There is definitely something on the nose with ebay - theres just too many of us whinging nowadays for it to be a coincidence.

from ebay USA i.e. ebay.com N.B. as soon as a seller openly complains that there is a problem-'miracles' occur but still, highlights server or connection or web site issues are ongoing.

Having the same problem. I am unable to list, re-list, sell similar or even revise items at the moment.

Same here, with Firefox. Sell Similar does eventually load using IE, but very, very slow, so something's wrong.

Also, if anyone uses the ebay optimizer, they've recently started requiring a log in. Since that happened, the bar isn't visible in Firefox, but it is visible in IE.

I have now been able to sell similar, list and revise so it seems the problem is solved.

Very interesting reading...I am increasingly sceptical about eBay...following my email to them which was addressed with an appalling patronizing reply I have had more sales in a day than I did over the past three days....it is really like they have switched my shop on!! They tried to explain my lack of sales by saying that items only sell if people want them!

My sales are down 90% over two weeks, worse in 5 years. 

"I contacted ebay only to be put through to someone overseas who only spoke broken English.   I explained my concerns and when I said our sales are down 90% she said what does 90% mean!  I knew right then I was wasting my time.  I told her having checked ebays listing analytic, out of 100 listings only four are active.  This means I have no impressions or click through's on 96 listings, in other words I am invisible!   It is a real mess and ebay are failing to put it right, if this keeps up many businesses like myself will close and stop trading on ebay.  In the long run ebay will end up on the scrap heap, if there are no top selling businesses on ebay then buyers will go elsewhere and ebay will collapse.

Good. If enough sellers/buyers get depressed then maybe they'll get mad about it and demand their money back.....hang on a minute......maybe this is why ebay gave out all the FREE LISTINGS ......they knew this was going to happen?

Im sure you will be accused of it but never mind. I think most of us are already repressed (I mean depressed) Anyway the current situation can be summed up simply by my appearence on the forums. I have never had time to look at these. Now I have nothing but time. No sales in 2 days. havent seen that since i stared out in 1997. I feel like Marvin the manically depressed robot.

So you have had 15 pretty good years, and now after, what 2 months? you are really ripping it up about eBay.

Hey, I know it is frustrating, and eBay could certainly do with a rev up, but think of the sellers like myself who have had 8 good months, and then had to deal with this.

You know what you are doing obviously, your feedback and sales volume is testament to that, so instead of all the doom and gloom maybe you need to just dig in and ride it out the way the rest of us are hoping to do.

Let's all hope something turns around soon. 🙂

This is called speaking your mind, and the FACTS are do any kind of completed search and look before and after April 6th, the day the new search was finalized worldwide.  You will see the difference in sales. 

I could care less if someone wants to claim that there sales are great, i wont believe them unless there a employee selling here. 

This is a VERY serious issue.  We are paying fees to be seen and we are not!  Everyone needs to send mail to ebay and DO NOT even entertain there lame excuses, we need to demand answers!
