Hi,
Buyer wins the auction and then tells me it wasn't him. Claims someone stole his password and told me to relist the item. OK! How do I let ebay know that it didn't sell so I won't be charged commission fees? I won't be relisting it.
My second one. I only accept Direct Deposit or Paymate. Very clearly written on all my selling items. Buyer makes Offer. I accept. They then try to pay with Paypal and depositing funds into their account. As i don't accept Paypal, I asked them to make a Direct Deposit into my Bank rather than Paymate as he didn't understand how it works. A few days pass, nothing goes into my bank. Contact Seller who then informs me he deposited into Paymate. He even clicked on the sent payment icon. Sounds Good. However, today I get an email from Paymate saying it was rejected by his bank. I rang up Paymate and they told me that it could be there was insufficient funds or something to do with his creditcard. I have sent the details to him that I received from Paymate. If a situation occurs like this, Paymate sends the Buyer an email outlining that they need to re-submit again. I am not after a dispute. This guy has 100% positive feedback rating for (800) and is elderly. I just don't want it to drag on. It sold on the 25th. Just want it resolved so that I can resell it. At this stage I am not sure if I even want to sell it to him anymore as I don't want him to give me negative Feedback when I have been upfront all along. I even gave him my mobile number to call me if required any help.
Would really appreciate some suggestions.
Thankyou

As a general rule of thumb, if a post doesn't seem to go through, copy it, then check to see if it did in fact go through. If it didn't, then paste and repost.

Thankyou all,
Sorry about the mutiple posts.
That was the third issue. LOL!!
I clicked POST and it didn't respond.
Tried it again and again and etc....
Did not realise it had even uploaded.
There would have been alot more i I hadn't given up
in frustration..
Both original issues have been resolved.
Which is great.
Happy with that.
Regarding Paymate.
Its very simple.
I don't want people who don't want to buy from me just because I offer Paymate and not Paypal. Read enough about it to know that Sellers appear to be on the backfoot if a dispute should occur. I don't like fuss and I don't like disputes. The other point regarding direct deposit, as I sell coins and bullion only, that is very standard within the industry to receive Bank transfers or pay by Credit Card. If I lose a few, so be it. More importantly, is having what someone else wants and offering a trustworthy quality service regardless of the terms. Now hopefully, i need to press the "POST" button once.
Cheers

You are oh so wrong about sellers being on the back foot with Paypal. It is very easy for sellers to make sure they have seller protection and as long as they don't stuff things up they will be fine.
Perhaps you should read ALL the policies about Paymate seller protection against bank chargebacks, Paymate will try to fight the chargeback but if they lose then you have no seller protection even if you have irrefutable proof that the item has been received by the buyer.
I have used Paypal as a buyer and seller for thousands and thousands of transactions over many many years and have never been out of pocket once.
I am afraid that you will find this happening a lot with Paymate, they reject a lot of payments and often for no reason. I have had an account since it first started and on 2 out of the 3 times I have used it the payment was rejected although there was plenty of available funds on my card. I will never use it again and certainly stopped offering it as a payment method on ebay many years ago.

What about being out of pocket due to the different exchange rate and the small percentage they take out of every payment? 😞
Aside from that though I find Paypal easy and have only ever had 1 issue in over 5 years. . .

Are you serious?
If you want to buy from overseas you have to expect to pay for using a different currency.
There is no financial institution on this earth that will give you a different currency just out of the goodness of their heart.
I can assure you that after dealing in other currencies for many years, paypal is by far the cheapest and easiest service to use.

How am I out of pocket? Paypal's exchange rate is on a par with most banks and exchanges and the fees are considerably less than you would pay in bank fees and charges.
I am so much NOT out of pocket that I use Paypal to transfer money from my UK GBP bank account to my Au bank account. My OH uses his banks to do the transfer and if we do them at the same time I always end up with a few more dollars net than he does.

Wow.
The exchange rate is usually higher, as they can profit by this. Told this direct from a Paypal employee when I enquired about the discrepancy between value of the Aussie / US dollar and what I was charged when paying via Paypal. I paid more because of this.
Also, they do take a small percentage out of whatever you have coming in, which is why some people prefer direct debit. So yes, whilst it may have better rates than other institutions, using Paypal does leave one out of pocket in some way, that's the point I was trying to make.
And again, despite this, I am still happy to use it.

Yes, but Paymate charge a fee also.
I wouldn't bother selling on eBay if I wasn't prepared to accept PayPal. It is the most popular form of payment chosen by buyers. Like all business decisions, you need to find a balance between what the buyer wants and what the seller wants. If buyers prefer PayPal then the small percentage they charge is not going to bother me.
As for disputes, some sellers cop plenty of disputes, not just because of business practises but also because some categories seem to attract difficult buyers. I am happy to report that so far I have avoided any disputes and any refunds and replacements given were by my own choice.

There is also the convenience of having transactions marked as paid with PayPal payments. I don't have to wait days to know if I have been paid. I have seriously considered removing the option for direct deposit because no matter how many times I instruct to leave the buyer ID as reference I am more likely to get a reference "ebay". X-(
