I just wanted to touch on my experience getting an extra 100 listings within the first 45 days.

Approval for 100 extra listings..

I use the ebay app on my phone, and I mentioned this. I try my best to respond as fast as possible.

I advertised overnight freight now on most of my listings, and will do all.

I set myself some sales goals.

All my stock is located in my warehouse.

I hope these tips help someone.

😃

I know people mentioned that I could not get the extra listings till 50 positive feedback.

I had 11, and I can get another 100 listings at 25 positive feedback.

Mind you, this is autoelectrical parts, so I mentioned that I do have a lot of stock to list.. and I do.

I am going to list more this weekend. 😃

It takes 5 mins for the system to update..

I can't see that any qualified or experienced mechanic is even going to bother buying off OP.

Mechanics get the parts from places like Repco and SuperCheap Auto etc.

The parts OP is selling are not a genuine brand but still do the same job though and are basically used by your typical backyard mechanic.

Anyone got a scritp I can use in a message if I need to investigate an enquiry, and just for the purpose of recognising they have asked a question..

For example;

Thanks for your enquiry, we will get back to you soon.

It may take me a few hours to reply, that is all, or even a day.

Does anyone bother?

We are targeting hobbiest, enthusists. If someone wants to buy it then they can, and we offer the technical support number.

People generally know what they are looking for, so when they see the picture they will know. No need to go into depth in detail.

OK, so you appear to have targeted a specific segment of the market. Experienced mechanics that know what they are looking at and dont need extra detail. If you are also providing workshop rebuilding services that makes sense. You will be cutting out most of the home mechanic and owner operator type people though. This could be a bigger proportion of the market that you are losing.

There is nothing wrong with targetting a very specific market ( experienced mechanics who just know what the part fits  )  and it is possible you may have less problems with them. Is it worth putting a brief statement in all of your listings ( or I think you can do this next to your profile pic design on stores ) along the lines of

"we are a family owned business dedicated to supporting the trade with quality replacement parts and specialised workshop services."

Often you are best to represent your business how it is, unless you are actively trying to change the business into something else. This way buyers expect services, based on the business image you are presenting.

It just seems to me you need to refine your presentation to suit your target market. Being on ebay, you will still get the non proffesional buyer looking at your items. How will you manage these buyers ? Is it just the "phone us" system. Nothing wrong with that if you are not really interested in selling to them, BUT they are the biggest buyer demographic.

Without giving too much away, I am in a very similar business to you. One of my stores is set up specifically to target the profesional trade market and does not supply anything to private buyers. This store sells more expensive, higher quality items, only used by the trade.

My larger store deals with a mix of private and trade buyers, and the private buyers form a large part of my client base. These guys definately need more details in the listing description and are a MUCH larger buyer segment than trade.

If you have a 1960 boch armature, they will know.

I do not have to go into the details of model numbers.

That denso brush will fit nearly all fan type alternators, so no need to list all the models.

People wil know when they see it, as it is unique.

But, saying this I will use some of your suggestions for sure.

A good introduction is always important.

There is 1 person in autralia that also rewinds armatures(but not to our extent or expertise), most enthusiasts will know what we cover by that information alone.

If you need some items imported, we can investigate and list them for your to buy 😃

We specialize in auto electrical imports as well, but we are yet to start this completely on Ebay.
