I always thought that by checking the button that says i get up to 3 free automatic relistings, that they were not taken off your 40 free listings per month.
I accepted the promotion 100 free listings yesterday. Today when i went to relist 100 of my unsold items, there was only 65 left. On further inspection i realized that 35 of my items had finished yesterday and been automatically relisted. They used my free listings.
I have never had this happen before. I didn't realize that checking that automatic relist button could do that.
I contacted ebay and they said it does use up your free listings, so i will be unchecking that button from now on or not accepting any promotions the day before i want to use them.

Add me to the list of 'I didn't know's !'
You're not stupid & neither am I, lol :
I have only recently started a new ID so that I can have the benefit of the 3 Free Auto Relists (can't get them on this ID), and I would stake my life on the fact that in the past at least, the Free Auto relists did not come off any Free Listing offers or even your monthly entitlement.
That really sux that you've missed out on 35 freebies - hope the remaining 65 sell well for you

That means that the word FREE in there must really not be as if they come off your entitlements then in the end you pay when you go over your entitlements.
Must be they are using the same definition for FREE as they do for FREE postage.
Old saying I guess "nothing in life is FREE".
BTW I also did not know this.

There's some information missing here!
The 100 freebies didn't start till today so if your items auto-relisted yesterday they wouldn't/couldn't have come off the 100. Even if you signed up for them ahead of time, they don't start until the official starting date. Anything that you listed from the 1st to the 10th would have come off your normal 40, not the 100.
Are you sure you didn't list something that you forgot to count, or did you have some items scheduled to start earlier today and they came off the 100?

I've had two items re-list via the free re-lists and they have not been taken of my free listings.
I have used the free re-list option all this year and the three free re-list have never being taken from the 40
listings.
So as usual, the eBay rep has no idea what they are talking about,
Maybe it applies to the 100 free listings not the 40,(or there is a glitch/cross over and eBay have mucked it up again),
Edit:,(I was away for 15 minutes and then just read my message and hit the post button),

New one on me too.
Your relists must have gone on after midnight as the 100 free did not start till then.
I have just taken my last few auto relists off (they had already relisted twice) as I would rather use the new ones for new listings and not the unsold old ones.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

The start time for these FREE listing offers is always 00:01, ie 1-minute past midnight.
Is the time Eastern Standard Time in Oz or in some USA time zone somewhere?

Hi Lorraine - I suspect it's a glitch.
It has NEVER happened before, but is certainly happening this time, and the usual message 'item has been automatically relisted' is still being sent. So they are double dipping.
I've had auto re-lists this morning being deducted from the 100 freebies.
I suspect anything that re-lists after mignight last night will be deducted.
