Help help help I don’t use eBay often and forgot l had an item for sale. My notifications was off so l didn’t know that l had sold the item the buyer paid and when she didn’t receive it she put in a review with eBay which l also was unaware of. After a period of time since l didn’t reply eBay closed the review and paid me the money. Surely they should have refunded the buyer since l did not communicate. This is ridiculous. FYI I contacted the buyer and gave her a full refund.

Yes, they should have refunded the buyer if you didn't reply to the case/dispute. They obviously made a mistake.
I hope you have enabled notifications now.
