I sent iten to buyer in Algeria who claims it has not been delivered. Opened INR instead of contacting me first. I can prove I posted the item and AusPost says it can take up to 3 months to deliver to Algeria. Buyer wants a refund, I can't afford to refund. If I refund the buyer and i can later prove it was delivered will I get the refund back?

Ebay decided in the buyers favour and gave full refund and charged me an $8 fine, despite the information I gave them about the transaction and buyer. Now the case is closed and I am out $170....... Ebay was meant to be a fun and friendly buyoing and selling experience, but it has turned out the complete opposite. I survive financially on the DSP, selling things from time to time when the bills are too much. This has set me back so far financially and has put me right off ebay. Thanks for your support people, you are the good ones

If you allow ebay to forcibly refund they will issue you a nasty seller defect.
But I've never heard of anyone before being fined $8.
Can you explain what this fine is about please?
In some time if/when your parcel eventually gets delivered and the tracking status shows up as delivered, you may be able to appeal the original ebay decision based on the new tracking information.
If ebay refuse to acknowledge the appeal then lodge a formal complaint with the ACCC about this.

There was a fee of $8 on my monthly invoice but that may have been for when they tried to bikk me and I didn't have the funds ready. It's not very clear.
The last message I got from ebay said.. "eBay Customer Support has reviewed the case and made a final decision"

There are definitely increased risks when selling overseas, especially if you have not had a lot of experience selling on ebay. Scammers target certain types of goods such as phones, cameras & computer equipment as it is easily resold and quite valuable. One good moto is not to sell anything overseas unless you cant afford to lose the money.
Even In Australia, I only sell stuff on ebay that I am prepared to lose. When selling more expensive items that are targeted by scammers I chose other methods of sale where the buyer inspects the item before purchase and pays cash on pick-up.

Sorry, just to clarify, did you have tracking and perhaps Extra Cover?
If you did, then private message Australia Post through their Facebook Page. If you contact them in a nice, friendly way they are fairly prompt in responding and will help you.
I wouldn't say anything about what Ebay has or hasn't done, but you could send a message like:
Good day - I sent a parcel to Algeria with tracking and it appears to have gone missing in transit. The tracking # is xxxxxx.
Could you please look into this and advise.
What I find is that if you just have tracking as a minimum, then they will refund you $50.00. If you have the extra cover, then you can screen shot your Ebay sale which shows the item, the value and the tracking number and send it to them.
You should get back $50 as a minimum from AP, but in future, always enter the tracking number into the order as soon as you get it from the post office. I always keep my PO and lodgement receipts as well.

Also, just to add - there are many countries which I will never sell to - this includes all of Africa, all of South America, most of Southern Europe, most of Asia, Russia etc. In my experience, these destinations have a higher than normal rate of items going "missing".
