"To that end, eBay / adyen do not get your login details, so quit with the "I've figured out the whole conspiracy" thing, when you're not even basing your theories in reality. The online verification is facilitated by a business called Trustly (terrible name, but this is them https://www.trustly.net/en-ca/products/online-banking-data ). You can find info on that site that details exactly what gets passed on through this system, and as I've already said in a previous post, it's personal info, not login details. "
.. anyway thanks for supplying that bit .. another piece of the puzzle .. I will have a look at that .. so you didn't entirely fail my challenge .. if ebay had of made that clear from the start woulda been nice .. it is a bait and switch as far as I am concerned ..

Failure to accept a challenge to find information for you that you can easily find yourself is hardly a failure. Merely a prudent use of d*g's time.
You seem to have plenty to spare, given your novel-length diatribes on here, so maybe use it productively.

@supermussolinibros wrote:there are now many many articles on the internet stating how FB Marketplace is the new ebay.
what really got me a few years ago was a young guy at my work needed a motorcycle jacket - his first port of call was FB and then 'tree - i asked him "did you even look at ebay" - his reply "oh it's either chinese garbage or overpriced carp on there"
I'm hearing of people having great success even selling internationally on FB.
But overall i say ebay can't be beat for things like buttons, screws, phone cases kitchen gadgets etc.
Some auctions still do ok but you have to hope people are looking if you are selling and great bargains can be had from newbies starting auctions at 99c
-------------
Ebay must be well aware of the 21 day hold on funds being a bit irksome for new sellers but really, it sorts the wheat from the chaff in that I imagine ebay are keen to have sellers who are invested in ebay, who have a reputation to uphold and who have some experience with selling and how it all works.
Consider the 21 day hold as a trial period, the same as some workplaces have 3 month trial periods if you start a new job.
It just gives protection to buyers and paypal or wherever the funds go so the newbie seller can't take off with the money and leave anyone hanging. It gives a buyer time to open a claim if their item doesn't arrive or isn't right.
So if a seller is turned off by the tiral epriod and leaves, ebay would not care. Those that last the distance are probably those who have the will to become regular sellers.
As for facebook marketplace, I find quite a lot of their items are not cheap, they are ambitiously priced. Maybe it started off with bargains but these days, ebay is often competitive for the simple reason ebay prices start at what the seller really wants or at a low auction price the seller hopes will go up, while FB starts at a high price the buyer needs to bargain down, which isn't always welcomed by sellers. Can put their backs up.
I guess young people use it, not debating that, just debating that it is necessarily cheaper than ebay. Maybe the youngies are missing out by having closed minds.

i set you a challenge .. you failed .. the rest of your reply there is excuses and playing apologist for ebay/ayden and company .. and gaslighting me ..
For heaven's sake - your "challenge" didn't even make sense.
"I can't recall ebay saying at any stage that I would be required to supply my internet banking login to remove banking details that I supplied to sign up to the compulsory ebay/ayden managed payments platform .. can you find a link to that feature of ebay/ayden managed payments platform in the fine print of the user agreement they forced me to if I want to stay selling here for me DG? .. I am feeling a bit lazy on this after a difficult day .."
Let's break this down:
I can't recall ebay saying at any stage that I would be required to supply my internet banking login to remove banking details that I supplied to sign up to the compulsory ebay/ayden managed payments platform
What does "supply my internet banking login to remove banking details I supplied" even mean?
I've already stated that not everyone even has to do the sign in via eBay, it wasn't even an available option when I signed up, and that there's a bypass for it which I've linked to or detailed in numerous other threads, so why are you asking me to find you information that doesn't make any logical sense, and alludes to something I never said was compulsory, or that everyone has to do?
I don't care a bit if I "fail" the "you didn't say how high when I said jump" challenge.

"What does "supply my internet banking login to remove banking details I supplied" even mean?"
... deep breathe .. sigh .. groan .. eyeroll ..
... it means I can't remove my banking details from ebay managed payments until I give my internet banking login to that trustly crowd again .. I did that a few times already and still the ebay site glitched out and still wouldn't let me remove my banking details or swap them to another safer bank account for me to use etc ..

Digi wasn't the only one, it didn't make any sense to me either, and I suspect others were in the same boat as well.

Righto, so, continue to walk me through your thought process - why did you "challenge" me to find information on this?
on 03-06-2021 03:06 PM
Thats simple Digi, They stated they were too lazy to do it themselves, which sometimes equates to, I don't know how, please do it for me.
Ah well, toughlove, self help etc.
I wonder how my shares in tin foil hats is doing.

"Digi wasn't the only one, it didn't make any sense to me either, and I suspect others were in the same boat as well."
I know .. the devil is in the detail of the rants there somewhere ..
yeah it started out I was peeved that ebay managed payments could withdraw from my main bank account and I am worried about overdraw fees etc .. so I decided to postpone ebay selling for a bit and think about what I am going to do to sell my stuff .. kinda decided to postpone in disgust but .. then I tried to remove my banking details from managed payment and haven't been successful doing that .. even though trustly has my internet banking login there (a few times) .. anyway I am tired of it .. I need to work out what to do ..
.. I have a dilemma too (that shouldn't surprise anyone here reading this) .. but if I list all my items onto one ebay account and try and take advantage of the 250,000 listings .. I reakon I could list a stack of stuff .. about $10,000 worth but then ebay will no doubt change the rules and force me to $100 a month store and throttle sales etc so that it takes me 10 years to sell it all .. so kinda stuck in a limbo .. good stuff to sell but no good reliable place to sell it .. like I don't want to waste time listing if I just have to delete it all again .. so I am gonna wait and see what happens in the next ebay season release is probably best .. .. but basically nowhere but ebay to sell my stuff, fb just doesn't do it for me .. so its the devil or the deep blue sea on this for me .. 😞

What I do not understand, is how people are so unwilling to jump into the unknown of managed payments, but seem ever so enthusiastic about launching on other platforms, that they have just as little knowledge of .
I have been on managed payments from the initial roll out, and have not had any issues at all, really the only difference it has made, is which accounts I transfer money to and from, rather than from and to!
