Is eBay footing the bill?

I know there's other threads out there but I'm going blind searching for them.

It's about these $10 vouchers if you buy with your mobile   Not 10% but $10. Rumour has it that it's a

promotional thingy on eBay's part. Thing is they've turned up on $2 items and not on anything over $10

So how does that work?  $10 off a $2 item.  I've read the blurb and it says nothing

about minimum purchase.  Is eBay fronting for this $10 or not.

I'm really confused

Yes, eBay are footing the bill.

Whilst the discount appears on your listings, it will cost you nothing. As the buyer goes to pay with paypal, they put their code into the discount/voucher area to recieve the discount.

The seller (aka you and me) stil get our full amount, eBay picks up the voucher amount.

Stawks, if the vouchers are valid, then yes, eBay will be footing the bill. They're not expecting you to do the discount out of your pocket. (I wouldn't imagine).

In answer to your $2 purchase question, you would find that the maximimum discount would be $2. eBay wouldn't let everyone buy something for $2 nd then give them $8 cash iykwim.

As it appears that the things aren't real, I guess you can say they have been foistered on you, as it you that has to deal with customers saying "my code won't work, now I don't want the item"

In theory, eBay are giving away what appears to the buyer to be $10, but it doesn't really cost them that much. It's sort of like when you get a meal comped at a restaurant. To you the meal may be worth $100, but to the restaurantaur, it's only about $33 cost price.

I'm figuring for eBay each voucher would cost them about $8 - so not sure why it's a good thing for them to do.

anyway, that's my take on it - I'm more than likely wrong though.

If you'd simply typed "dam" the obscenity filter would have ignored the word.

Thanks crikey.  I couldn't believe how hard it was for people to understand

that I wasn't a buyer. If I was a buyer I KNOW I don't have to use them.  Duh!!

Guess I outsmarted myself by posting on the selling board - that sure as heck

confused em.

Heck is where you go when you don't believe in Gosh
