Is eBay footing the bill?

I know there's other threads out there but I'm going blind searching for them.

It's about these $10 vouchers if you buy with your mobile   Not 10% but $10. Rumour has it that it's a

promotional thingy on eBay's part. Thing is they've turned up on $2 items and not on anything over $10

So how does that work?  $10 off a $2 item.  I've read the blurb and it says nothing

about minimum purchase.  Is eBay fronting for this $10 or not.

I'm really confused

Re: Is eBay footing the bill?

Yes, eBay are footing the bill.

Whilst the discount appears on your listings, it will cost you nothing. As the buyer goes to pay with paypal, they put their code into the discount/voucher area to recieve the discount.

The seller (aka you and me) stil get our full amount, eBay picks up the voucher amount.

Re: Is eBay footing the bill?

I avoid confusion by not reading emails sent to my buying accounts, I would need more than a ten buck inducement to use the useless mobile app anyway!

I didn't get an email on my moibile.  But others did .

And I'm looking at the listings

Are you saying $10 off a $2 purchase is useless?

Re: Is eBay footing the bill?

From memory the vouchers were for $10 off the purchase of items $50 and over.

There were actually 2 different vouchers...one involving the mobile app, the other one a straight voucher offer.  Most of the ebay/paypal offers have a lower limit on the (usually $50)

Re: Is eBay footing the bill?

I'm not sure how useful this information is because while I received a $10 discount voucher, it wasn't restricted to a mobile app purchase - plus I never used it. I do remember that some of the conditions were that the purchase(s) had to be Oz listing(s), payment made via PayPal, and that the purchase had to total $50 or more, including postage.

But when I looked at listings it would say "Pay only X.XX" underneath the price. If the price was under $10, it would say "Pay $0.00", and if it was over (eg $19.95) it would say "Pay 9.95". As it was sent to an ID that I don't use to make purchases, I looked at the T&C briefly, but never clicked on the "Find out how" link via a listing as the only listings I was looking at were my own. Presumably, though, all that meant was that I could buy say 5 $10 items and effectively get one for $0.

Thanks for the extra info. Checked T&C for the umpteenth time. No minimum but must be

one transaction.  Stupid idea these vouchers.  Should be for those who want em, not just foisted on ya!

Foisted? There is no requirement to use them.

I didn't use mine as there is nothing I'm prepared to pay $40 for at the moment. MY voucher was a straight $10 off - with a $50 minimum. I suspect, d*g if you had tried to use yours for a transaction that didn't come top $50 you would have been disappointed.

Pay attention

I said foisted.!

In case you didn't notice I posted on the selling board!

I'm not talking about using them to buy.  There's already

a thread about these vouchers on there. I'm talking about

the sellers point of view and I know you're all sellers here.

And again $10 off a $2 item?

Re: Is eBay footing the bill?

Pay attention indeed.

Foisted means to have imposed on you. It is an offer/option, which you can choose to use or not. And they are specifically for PURCHASES of $50 or more.

It is an eBay/Paypal promotion - the $10 comes from them not the seller.

Sheesh

Re: Is eBay footing the bill?

Don't sheesh me. I said FOISTED!!!

These vouchers were added to my listings without my knowledge

or consent.  How is that "choosing to use them or not!"

They were just suddenly there for the buyers to use.   There was no email.

There was no offer to participate or refuse.

So, my OP was    Is eBay footing the bill?

If they are - sweet.
