I have a number of household items (beds, wardrobes, tables etc) which I will need to sell QUICKLY prior to moving to a new apartment next month.
To expedite the sales, I’m considering listing them SIMULTANEOUSLY on eBay, Gumtree and Qsales.
If I use the “Buy it now” option i.e. NO AUCTION, is there any problem with this strategy? Do I need to mention on each of these three sites that I’m also advertising on the other two?
And what would happen if an item was sold on two of the sites at the same time?
Any other ideas as to how I can leverage this plan to EXPEDITE sales and MAXIMISE proceeds?

you must 1) have a paypal account, 2) link your paypal account to your ebay account & 3) offer paypal as a payment option (whether people use it or not
That isn't quite right either. Seller must offer one safe payment method - which can be Paypal, Paymate, or Merchant Credit Card facility.
They then can offer other methods as well, like bank deposit.

Thanks for the detailed advice! Yes I will look into that strategy. However, I thought that you couldn't remove an add from EBAY once it had a bid on it? But in any event, even if one could, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. So maybe I should do it "BIN" on ebay rather than auction?
Also: Anyone out there know how I can get my draft listings back?? (see my previous post)

I have just had a similar situation where I have been contacted by a customer and agreed on a price but the buyer was not coming around for sveral days to view and pay for the item. I have not recieved any money. But today my husband sold it to a friend who has picked it up and paid for it. Is this illegal? Was I committed to the original Sale? I advised the buyer as soon as I heard

Hi Artforart, I think you are right regarding not being able to lift a listing once a bid is on it. I'm sure these were the circumstances when Giorgio tried to end one only a couple of weeks ago. The option to end because the item is no longer available was missing and I think tHe only option in these circumstances is that if you do end the item, it automatically goes to the highest bidder.
I'm nearly 100% sure this is the case.
And almost with respect to advertising elsewhere, we are well known locally as tobacco pipe restorers and sellers. We've had it happen twice now where someone has called to have a look at current offerings, nearly all of which were on eBay, and they've made an offer on say a bundle of six or seven items. Of course, we accept. What else would you do? We then remove the listings as no longer being available. Whether or not we'll eventually run into strife with this I don't know. But honestly, what are you supposed to do? If the price is right, no one would turn down that sort of offer. I see this as being no different really, to having your items available elsewhere.
Some of the grey areas here really haunt me. We try to do what is right, but what is right by us too, but just don't know if we are going to get hit with the bashing stick sometimes. I did correspond with eBay today, loosely relative to stuff just like this.
Very confusing and fretful for newb sellers.

Melina, if a listing has a bid on it you can cancel the bid and end the listing although you may have a cranky buyer on your hands.
Or you can end the listing to sell to the highest bidder.

Thanks Lyndal. I'll pass that on to Giorgio. I was sure that option wasn't there.
Cranky bidder? For sure!! This was a pipe we found a hairline crack in when polishing, but we resolved it another way satisfactorily.
even after 3 months we're still learning so much stuff!!
thank you.
