As a buyer I was shocked to see an item I had delivered was showing on the postage label as Signature on Delivery required (seen after I had the parcel handed to me and postie had left) which had also been highlighted by the seller and I was handed the package and was NOT asked to sign for it.
I contacted the seller and let them know this as well.
As a seller if I paid for signature on delivery no matter if it was at the buyers expense or mine, I want to get what was paid for.
Are any sellers being advised by their buyers that no signature was asked for when it had been paid for?
What is the point in charging or paying for it if it is not going to be done by the postie?

Oh I forgot, I am going to ask my customers to help as well.
ie in my nove polite eta email I will also iinform them that I have sent the item SOD....... and if they find the item unsafely dropped at the door with nobody in attendance I will be zeroing in on any item that has a signature recorded for that delivery
...... tantamount to fraud.....
ie see sparklz opening post in this thread.. I hope their seller requests the signature because if there is one isn't it obvious who signed it ????

copy and paste from a facebook question
"I understand your frustration, and I would be happy to shed some light onto our Signature on Delivery service.
As Roxy advised on the link you provided to the eBay forums, specific information about the Signature on Delivery service is not included in our Terms and Conditions as the delivery and compensation processes are sufficiently outlined there.
If you are unclear about what the $2.95 fee for Signature on Delivery covers, I would recommend having a look on our website here http://ow.ly/ljhjK
which says
“Signature on Delivery captures a signature of the recipient once the item has been delivered.”
I recognise that you are frustrated about not automatically receiving a hard copy of the delivery signature of a parcel you sent, however this is not part of the Signature on Delivery service, just as receiving a hard copy signature is not automatically included in the Registered Post service, but needs to be added on for an extra charge.
Unfortunately the Confirmation of Delivery service is only available with Registered Post, so therefore no longer available when sending parcels.
We are happy though, to provide a hard or soft copy of the delivery signature for any Signature on Delivery parcel free of charge, to the sender of the parcel and this can be requested via phone or email.

You know I was thinking about recommending the courier service for more secure deliveries and then I find this at the bottom of the Signature On Delivery advertisement
Please note: This feature is automatically included for our Courier Post service.
So that courier post is no more secure than SOD.
In fact it looks like it is almost impossible to send any parcel post item with confirmation of delivery security

An example. The australia post operator has scanned the generic barcode that adds the $2.95 charge to my invoice art the top of the Sod sticker sheet and removed the sticker that matches a relevant barcode This barcode should have been affixed over the top of the click and send barcode so that the delivering contractor was required to get a signature.
It was not done
If you use the AP tracking site you can see that the number from the red sticker at the top of the receipt gives the result

I emailed the complaint via the link supplied on the 17th.
Today I just got a call from AP about the complaint.
The rep claims it is showing on their end as regular delivery.
I told him the label in the pouch had signature required on it and it was highlighted as well by the seller.
I then told him I was sent a copy of the payment receipt as well to verify what was required.
He asked me to contact the seller and ask they contact AP to get compensation.
I said you have the details there and by the tracking number you can verify the sellers C&S account and can see your self what was paid for.
He said sounds like it might be a bit too hard for you.
My reply was NO sounds like it is too hard for you as you can see it yourself via the C&S site and you are hoping the seller does not make contact to not have to pay compensation.
So I have contacted the seller and passed on the info and only hope she does follow it through.
I will let advise if I hear back from her and the outcome.

If you are processing a parcel through C&S using Own Packaging and have selected Signature on Delivery then why is a second sticker being applied to the parcel? The PO should weigh, enter the postcode, tick the C&S box on their screen and scan the C&S barcode.
If you are using old Registered Post labels then the PO just needs to tick the box on their screen that says something like Prepaid Label and then scan the barcode in.
There shouldn't be two barcodes on a parcel.

I think the poor post office workers have not had any instructions and are basically flying blind, they have no idea how to use the new system and are just making do

Hi all,
So in summary (as there still appears to be some misunderstanding going on) the Signature on Delivery service will capture a signature on delivery for the article, wether the item was delivered at the address or collected from a Post Office. We will not send you a hard copy or email of the signature unless you specifically request it by contacting us through our email or phone channels.
If this has not occurred, please contact us so we can follow up. Compensation will be assessed after an enquiry has been lodged.
The article in your example should not have received a second barcode viewmont1071 so it is disappointing to see that this has happened. So we can address this with the r...

Too true Fred.
The staff at our closest LPO are really great. Even though it is very busy they take the time to work out what to do with new labels etc. When we have something new they usually spin the screen around and together we look through the different options and tick boxes until we find what works.

I don't know why???... I just watched what the PO staff did and described their actions. I generally do not tell AP employees what to do... I expect them to know.
I added SOD correctly here is the transaction summary with SOD added the total cost of 24.00 with the intruction "pay at Post".
I added SOD to an AP 3kg satchel a couple of days later and they did the same thing. Stuck the SOD barcode over the top of the 3kg bag postcode.... I dont know why... I just know they did
