Items not listed. Can someone kindly give advice.

If a customer calls, and the item is not the right one listed on ebay.

Can we offer them another item not listed. And, if it is not listed.. must it be invoiced through ebay.

Also, can we offer any services not listed. For example, I have a rebuilt starter motor drive, they ring up for it but it was the wrong one.

Can I offer to repair that one as it is not listed on ebay, and it is an additional service.

Please help me udnerstand ebay policy..

Thank you.

Please remember this is a positive friendly environment

Thanks

Ebay found me this business I never had before.

I thought it was your uncle's business.

I unlisted the items, until I could sort it out.

I wanted to be sure I was getting it right.

So, check again in 24 hours

😃

Is there a time delay with newly listed items (as in new stores), with stores who have a really good rep+?

As in, as long as 24 hours?

Don't forget that you are paying for your store so if it's empty then you're paying for nothing 🙂

If a customer calls about an item not listed on ebay you are under no obligation to list it on ebay. You can send them an invoice directly and accept whatever form of payment you chose

Ebay have no control over items not listed on their site - it is only items listed on ebay which need to be purchased through ebay. Most of the bigger sellers have websites, ebay store and possibly B&M stores so ebay is only a part of their business.

Re: Items not listed. Can someone kindly give advice.

why would a customer contact the OP about items not listed? and even if they did and he had whatever it was why would a ebay buyer not just request the OP list the item then buy it through ebay thus recieving all the benifits of ebay protection. once you go off ebay your on your own, item turns out wrong or something, customer loses money.

Re: Items not listed. Can someone kindly give advice.

We get calls at least daily about items we don't have listed  and it is not necessarily because they are regular ebay buyers. They might have found an ebay listing on google for example, clicked on it and ended up on ebay. The listing might be for one size for example but they are after another size or colour so they ring to see if it is available as they have no idea how ebay works.

A lot of the people who ring us don't even realise that they had even ended up on ebay as we often ask them if they have found us through ebay or our website....and often they don't have a clue.

Paypal buyer protection also applies to non ebay purchases and customers who use credit card over the phone have an even higher level or protection than what ebay offer.

I looked at you items for sale and a little down the list I saw Rebuilt Starter Motor Drives from $80

I think your title and your listing description will get you in trouble with eBay.  Use of "from $80" for a single item listing and then giving your phone number in the description is clearly inviting members to contact you if the listed item is not the one they want.  eBay would clearly view this as unacceptable as you would be seen to be using this listing to solicit off-eBay trade.

It does not matter one iota that you ask that those that call mention eBay as there is no obligation for you to list an item that is asked for in a phone call.  You would probably sell direct to avoid fees, and this is where you will get a policy violation.  Get too many of these and your selling career on eBay, and that of your uncle as eBay will view them as being controlled by the same person, will be over . . . . permanently.

Re: Items not listed. Can someone kindly give advice.

In addition to my recent post, I'd change the title and description before someone reports your item to eBay.  I also suggest, as many others have done already on numerous threads started by you, that you read the site map.  If you are having difficulty understanding what we mean by sitemap, then try clicking the sitemap link shown in this screengrab of the bottom of an eBay page as the sitemap link appears on just about every eBay page, including this one!

I tried to help you understand eBay policy, but I wasn't positive or friendly as I took the direct approach of just telling you the truth as I saw no point sugar coating what I had to say.

Here's a smiley face, is that friendly enough?  Smiley Happy

Yes,

I am not that technically good.

I know how to operate things, but when it comes to policy it gets a bit confusing.

😃

All good, all is forgiven previously 😃

Yes, love the smiley face.

Good attitudes.
