Just got a defect for an item sold back in Sept last year

Just wondering if anyone else has had this.

Sold an item last Sept. Buyer says didnt get it (Small item no tracking) and I refunded. I just got an email saying I have been hit today with a defect for out of stock for that transaction.

I refunded using paypal (not ebay) ...again only a few dollars so  no big deal. I now have my first defect. I am never out of stock for this item ....its one of my best sellers and even if I had refunded using ebay I know better than to pick out of stock as a result.

Anyhoo I am off to chat with ebay about this but wanted to know if anyone else has been pinged by ebay 7 months after a sale ?

(sigh) And on another thread, there's already someone claiming it's a "spoof" e-mail because there's nothing in their "Messages" folder...

Hehehe I hate the word 'spoof'. Back when I was kid (50 odd years ago) spoof had a totally different meaning!

My defect has been removed BUT I am still showing a 1.13% defect rate so I will have to get that sorted now.

Gives me the jimmy-brits up to the eyeballs when people automatically howl "scam!". All the info in the e-mail header checks out, IP address is from Emarsys, who eBay have been using for years.

Well documented in the Facebook group "Ebay Sellers Australia" that it's a legit eBay communication - and a glitch.

I also received a defect for cancelling a postage label. It was for a label I printed 2 months ago, then realised the address was 1km away from me and decided to walk there instead and cancelled the label within 5 mins of printing it. Now ebay gave me a defect for late delivery. The buyer already gave me a green feedback a long time ago.

I got one as well. Like you, my dashboard shows no defects. The only possible contender is an INR opened 17 days past the 30 day cutoff, which the buyer closed when he actually had a look and realised that he had received the item.

The defect which was showing immediately after I received the email has now gone from the Dashboard.

I had the same thing today with the accompanying email- but it has disappeared this evening and all back to normal.

Re: Just got a defect for an item sold back in Sept last year

I love the line where it says "we're committed.......support for our sellers!

what support, there is NONE when it comes to MGB for not as described, buyer wins everytime regardless!

Buyers lie, make false statements and who cops it.....SELLERS,

i just had an idiot open a "Significantly Not As Described" dispute.

Buyer's reason "dress has "hair balls" in the most prominent spot. I cannot wear. Want refund"

So I have no choice but to accept the return. Received the dress back, there was the most micro small bit of pilling, so small that after closely inspecting before listing I couldn't even see it (the dress was black so extremely difficult to notice).  So they weren't "hairballs" as the idiot described, barely and I'm almost inclined to say not noticeable as I couldn't see it, she must have used a magnifying glass to find it! It was described as excellent condition, which it was. Now if these "hairballs" were easily visible I would have mentioned it, but Jesus Christ, you're buying preowned not new, but they expect new!

significant definition: 1. important or noticeable:

No point in even trying to defend the ridiculous statement of the buyer.

Any way, I got out my electric pilling remover, and all of 5 seconds and it's gone.

I would say she's wanted the dress for an event of some kind. Event has been attended, so no further use for the dress. So many use eBay as a free hire service. Some buyers have gone as far as damaging the garment to ensure they got a refund. One seller stalked the buyers facebook page and found a photo of the buyer at a party, wearing the "completely unwearable dress". The seller won that case/

I remember the that one. Seller stalked her FB. One of the lucky sellers where the MGB went in her favour.
