Live CD

I recently received a message from  ebay saying they blocked an item ( a live CD) as they claim it is counterfiet.   But someone has already paid for it. Do ebay automatically refund the buyer ??

Re: Live CD

If they have, you must be able to see the refund?

Hi, could I ask what the CD was?  And who it was by thanks. Was it reported by someone?

Strange as eBay appears to let sellers sell pirated music and dvds all the time.

Maybe re-classification of the item could work. IE: Non original release etc.. (use your imagination)

The buyer will most likely be refunded, if not now then maybe soon.

Pre-managed payments, they did not refund the buyer in cases like this - I'm not 100% sure what their procedures are like on MP, though.

In the past, the buyer would receive a vague notice that the item had been removed, and then some really conflicting advice about what to do.

First, they'd be told not to pay for the item, but then they were told if they had already paid, not to worry and they might still receive it - they are not told why the item was removed, just that it was a potentially fraudulent transaction.

However, buyers in these cases always had to take the initiative themselves to open a case (this can be evidenced by the many threads in the buyer section of the forums, from members who were the buyer in this scenario).

However, do double-check your payment account on eBay and the payment status of the order there. And, if you can, communicate with the buyer - if they received an email from eBay even remotely like the one that's gone out previously, they are probably concerned and confused by what's happening.

@4channel, please, if you don't have an inkling what eBay's procedures are in these cases, don't give out advice based on assumptions, nor encourage the re-listing of items to try and skirt around policy breaches after one has been issued, particularly with wording that would very likely result in another policy breach being issued. Other people getting away with listing similar items is the worst justification for such actions, and it's not your account that would be at risk.

Re: Live CD

I'm not doing what you insinuate digital ghost. If you have personal issues with me, please contact me by Pm rather than try this kind of tactic.

Re: Live CD

I have no personal issue with you, I don't know you personally, and I'm not looking to.

I have an issue with what you posted, and I've addressed it. I was explaining to you the potential consequences of what you posted, not your intentions - the former I know, the latter I did not assume.

Re: Live CD

Given your history and how you have distorted things in the past, I still seek a peaceful and sensible solution to your issue.

There are many releases both live and studio recorded that can be confusing. Whilst perfectly through to partially legal, one often has to read the small print as there are some folks out there than will jump on any error and call it something that it is not. Having been in the collecting game, on both sides and going back to the 1980s with trading etc. and through to the 1990s and 2000s selling, engaging with some of the biggest seller / dealer around, I have a good idea of what can crop up sometimes.

Re: Live CD

There's a nice and loaded statement - looks like you have a personal issue with me.

Why don't you PM me about it, eh? I'll read it, can't guarantee I'll reply, though.

No issue with you personally. Certainly not in agreement with some of your past conduct. If you would like me to PM you I will. I promise it will be cordial and sensible but  I would address a matter or two.

BTW: Have you ever dealt in rare vinyl and unofficial issues of recorded work by musical artists?
