I came back to ebay about late august this year to start selling again to clear out my room of the piles of games, movies i never play or watch often. I have sold on ebay before and it has been fine with no troubles.
Now that im back selling again I have noticed some people bidding and winning and then simply not paying. since august i have had 6 non payments, possibly 7, waiting to see if the buyer responds yet or had possibly died of a heart attack at their computer screen, unclear yet.
What is going on. In all my many years of selling i have only had about one non payment. Now im back selling and i have seven in about four months.
These people not paying just simply dont respond, checking their feedback other sellers leave feedback saying they have no payment or response either.
What makes it difficult is that i cant give bad feedback like i could before. All these non payers have all this positive feedback with comments saying they have not payed.
I feel like this is some sort of scam.
Did ebay do this to not scare away customer by having bad feedback. whats the deal. Does ebay ever get rid of these ebayers that occasionally buy but mostly dont pay to get more positive feedback. I doubt ebay would get rid of customer even if they do not pay some times, they want the fees.
I have opened unpaid cases for all these items, wasting my time because the buyers have nothing to fear anymore because there is no bad feedback anymore.
Anyone else notice an increase of non payments recently?.

I think the system is seriously flawed. Where else can you "buy" something without paying immediately? I buy more than I sell here and when I buy, I always pay straight away but have the usual problem with non-payers when I sell. eBay would do well to adopt a system like that used by Grays Online where you have to register your payment details before you bid - and when you win an auction, your payment is immediately processed. 8 or more days grace is a joke!

It is unlikely the OP will revisit this thread after EIGHT MONTHS.

I didn't resurrect it! Perhaps I showed my inexperience by replying to the OP rather than one of the more recent (i.e. in the past hour or so) posters. I imagine it's been resurrected by someone because it continues to be an issue of concern. I was just commenting. Perhaps - as a non-regular - my comments are not welcome.

Still a very relevant topic - my very favourite one.
This is a discussion board and there was but a long pause in this discussion as far as I am concerned.
I am always interested to hear others new ideas in dealing with the inconsiderate, time & money wasting non-payers and love the t-shirt idea, in fact I am tempted to send one to a recent serial non-payer I had that continues to buy, buy, buy and not pay.
Alannah Hill sellers you may like to add to your special list the buyer that I left feedback for New ALANNAH HILL Silk Dress 10 Teensy Dancer Frock with Floral Print on - 21 June 2013.
I have my blocks in place but alas they are not effective. I reported this buyer to ebay and ebay continued to let her buy, buy, buy.

Maybe some people (not us, obviously) have a life? It IS Saturday evening after all.
As I have never berated anybody for leaving false positives, I decline the chance to start now. I don't even bother PMing the buyer to let them know it can be removed.

As if ebay sellers have a life outside ebay ... Saturday night or not

catspjs. I was just reading a similar post of yours in another thread, but when i went to respond to it, it said it did not exist, so either it has been deleted or my computer is playing up, I don't know.
But I did go and read your feedback and that of others.
It seems to me that the buyer in question is about 50/50. She bids as she pleases and decides later if she wants to go ahead or not. There's nothing that indicates she thinks of a bid as binding, in fact quite the opposite, and ebay has reinforced her view by letting her get away with it.
I can't understand is how come she is still flitting around ebay. Doesn't ebay ban people after a certain number of non payments?
It's been years since I sold on ebay, so I am not up with the latest.
I am presuming all those sellers though would have put in non paying buyer reports or asked ebay for their listing fees back, so surely ebay would have to know they have a problem?
I realise sellers can no longer give negative feedback but I am not sure it is worth any other seller giving a poitive so they can give a warning as the feedback already there says it all.
All sellers would be doing now is giving her a better looking score.
But her account should have been terminated about 20 purchases ago in my opinion.

Negative feedback for buyers who do not pay should definetly be brought back by Ebay.
Then these ignorent people might think twice before not paying.
Non payers are the scurge of ebay and should be sorted out in the best way possible.
