Received this yesterday. Since when do Empty Beer Cans come under the Alcohol Policy. I had a set of Empty Collectors Beer Cans Listed. Dating early 1990's and eBay decided to delete them as it was in breach of their Alcohol Policy as there was no License Number In The Discription. These cans are still full to protect them from getting damaged but once sold they would have been empied with small holes on the base. Who in there right mind would want to drink beer 20 years old. I am not very happy. Then they sent me a survey asking about what I thought about their decision I did the survey and really told them what I thought.

Clearly, according to ebay policy (and I guess by Law as well) a person can't sell alcohol without a liquor licence (among other requirements).
All understood, no problems.
So why then, are there so many bottles of alcohol sold on ebay when those requirements aren't met??
For evidence, just search for "premiership port". I'd imagine there are plenty of other categories where this exists also.

Some of the listings you mention have the Liquor Licence number in the listing....some don't.
There are a lot of members who don't know the law and list when they should not....just report the listings that are contravening policy and the Law.

Reporting listings is all fine and everything, but I don't think it's members responsibility to do that. Ebay is supposed to be maintaining it's own guidelines, and the point of my post, I guess, is to point out that Ebay are entirely inconsistent.
Relatedly somewhat, I don't see where there is any notice of a policy change, but I could swear that not so long ago the policy permitted sale of an alcoholic item where the "collectable" value of the item far exceeded the value of the alcohol itself. Or was I dreaming??
Ebay cannot and does not monitor every listing on the site.
If members want a safe site then they need to take a bit of time and report listings that do not comply.
If oyu are not prepared to do that much then don't complain if the listings are still there.
I think you were dreaming. I have never known a time when alcohol of any sort or any quantity could be listed without a Liquor Licence.
