Who's responsibility is it to chase up a missing item buyer/seller?

That information was on the item sent email from the seller.

If it was posted on 11th, it is not missing....yet. AP don't consider an item missing until 10 working days from lodgement.
Since they closed some of the smaller sorting centres and developed the large ones into mega centres (Sunshine West and Chullora in this case) a lot of our parcels are better travelled than a foreign correspondent. It will probably go back to Chullora tomorrow and be delivered Monday.

The item sent email is automated when the seller marks the item as posted. She didn't send the email, eBay did. Any dates in that email would have been eBay's ridiculous estimate, nothing to do with the seller.
In regards to the tracking number, it is not a requirement for sellers to upload it. If they don't want to upload a number, they don't have to. Some sellers never do.

This is why eBay has a bad rep, seller-wise, and why poster's on boards often end up on special lists. Especially if they are buyers posting on a seller board.
We have enough REAL problems with eBay policies, without impatient buyers adding to them.
If you think i'm impatient go with it.
The seller didn't send me the tracking number until I contacted her today and asked for it because by her estimation the item should have been here today.
Once I got the number I find it's gone from Vic to NSW and back to Vic - so I ask the seller if she would mind contacting the PO where it was last scanned in Vic. She responded by telling me it was up to me to chase it up.
All I asked - who's responsibility is it to chase up a missing item -
So now i'm impatient and on the wrong board to ask for help - Special list LOL hahahaha
As it has been pointed out plenty of times the parcel is NOT missing it is in Aus Post system it would do NO good for the seller to call sunshine. Yes you are showing yourself to be impatient if it is that important stop moaning and call them yourself I am sure you have phones in NSW. Sellers DO NOT control AusPost if you have a problem with how AusPost is working contact them

Thanks penny, now that I know they are sorting centres I will give it another week.

Why?
Unless she's had problems before she probably never checks tracking, nor knows about Chullora and Sunshine West. I don't checik tracking, and only know about the sorting centres from the boards
An example which is probably close to reality -
Purchase on 10/3, seller's handling time 1 day, estimated arrival 15-22/3
The 15/3 is the FIRST possible delivery date, not a guarantee. it is an eBay estimate, NOT something the seller nominates nor has control of.
Keep digging. The longer this thread is at the top, the more sellers who will read it.

Have a lovely night everyone.

Awww Freddie....posted on the 11th is not enough time for it to be missing.
Please be patient a little bit more. Like it's been mentioned, Chullora
and Sunshine West sorting Centres are notorious for bouncing things back and forth
for a few weeks.
The seller wouldn't know that unless they visit the boards, though.
I understand you're peeved at them though for not caring.
Hang in there, and just see what happens, OK?

i think the seller was not doing the right thing by not putting the tracking number into the system once it was posted.
good that you now have it and its showing the item is wandering around on its way to you. the seller cant find a parcel thats not missing.
what was the estimated arrival dates? you should have 2 dates, saying delivery between the two.
if your not passed the second date then you cant complain yet. even if you dont get it before the second date as long as its still getting tracked its not lost.
the seller has no control over australia post or any other delivery firm once the item is handed over. not sure what you think the seller can do, go to the post office and say 'find my parcel cos its not missing?'
you created this thread asking for help about a 'missing' item, its not missing.

My concern was that it left Vic arrived in NSW and now it's back in Vic - I was unaware those 2 scanned locations were sorting centres. I was also unaware the estimated arrival time on the item sent email was ebay's estimation. If I was a seller I would make a habit of including the tracking number with the thanks for your purchase email.
