NEGATIVE Feedback

I recently sold an item of clothing that the buyer told me when she received it was in not in new condition as I had stated.
I instantly sent a refund without any question or discussion of what I thought

I asked eBay if they would withdraw the Feedback but they will not do that

I am questioning if you do the right thing and get left Negative Feedback why did I give the refund ? Even though I always have and always will.

i have been selling on eBay for over 20 years with 100 percent Positive Feedback so loyalty dose not account ?

No,  you sent an old smelly item and claimed it was new.   Buyer was inconvenienced,  well deserved negative,  just because you refunded doesn't justify doing the wrong thing,  they shouldnt have had to ask for a refund for you doing the wrong thing.

Sellers can't leave negative feedback.

If you properly inspected your items before listing there wouldn't be any undescribed flaws.

The buyer wasn't happy, they gave you a warranted neg.

Loyalty does not count.

Feedback is the buyers' perceptions of the transaction. Despite being refunded, the buyer did not receive what they thought they ordered.

Was the item - NEW.

That is the only question.

NEGATIVE Feedback

Hi

We all think and live our lives differently ! I did not intentionally set out to make an error when I was listing themtop, I made a mistake. I honestly thought it was new

I  have been selling on eBay for over 20 years and have always been able to resolve all problems that have come up.  I  always admit if I make an error in my listing and have it written in my listing “ to please contact me if I have overlooked a flaw etc “

I have always found people to be understanding in the past
i have never left Negative Feedback as you never know what is going on in peoples lives, and
everybody makes mistake !   Thankfully there are other members of eBay who think like me

The truth of the matter is :

Having sold for over 20 years -  one would think you would know if an item could be described as NEW - or otherwise.

It wasn't.

And to boot - ' please contact me if I have overlooked a flaw ' - good grief.

Really, 20 years isnt an excuse for selling and listing smelly items, and than give yourself an out by saying its the buyers fault for not contacting you because you have some silly fine print, saying they should contact you if you made a mistake in your listing.

Obviously the buyer didnt think like you and gave a negative

Unfortunately refunding or otherwise resolving a buyers issue, does not eliminate the possibility of -FB being received.

The  -FB received does not breach FB policies and therefore ebay have no reason/option to remove it.

NEGATIVE Feedback

Feedback is just a person's perception of how the transaction went. These days, it has widened to include what the person thought of the product as well and whhether they were happy with it.

I am not sure, but you may not be selling your own items. I think if you had been selling your own top, you would know if you had worn it or not.

I used to sell many years back and clothing was something we sometimes listed.

But never as new unless we knew 100% for sure it actually was unworn.

People are all different and some people are happy to buy lightly used clothing, others will only buy new.

But I can guarantee that anyone who buys something listed as brand new is going to be mighty peeved to find that it wasn't.

How they react, it could swing either way. I know you feel you refunded immediately so it should be positive, but that doesn't overcome the fact the buyer feels your ad was totally inaccurate.

The buyer states they initiated a return so even if you had not refunded, I think ebay would have forced a refund anyway.

I thought the feedback was detailed and accurate enough. There would be no reason for ebay to delete it, in fact it would be wwrong of them to, in my opinion. Some buyers may have decided to go with neutral or positive, but if they gave positive, it would be only to report they got  a full refund.

The onus is on you, as seller, to be accurate. If you have clothing without tags to sell, you need to examine it very carefully beforehand for faults & you'd be better off listing an item as excellent condition instead of new unless you're sure of your facts.

I am not someone who hands out negatives or neutrals lightly either, but there is definitely a place for them in feedback or reviews. There's no point, otherwise. People go to read feedback to get an honest description of the transaction.
