So if you purchased from me and then left me a neutral, and I contacted you to find out more details about the issue you had with the transaction so I could clarify the issue, potentially offer amends as well as potentially improve my selling practices so other buyers were not disappointed, you would leave me a red dot for doing this ?

My goodness ......

Try not to let it worry you? Imagine if a seller had 1,000 feedback and 100 of them were 'left in error negatives'. It doesn't do much for their feedback percentage.

I'm not sure how people can leave them as an error. When you go to leave a grey or red dot, you get prompted to contact the seller. You used to also get another message asking again if you really want to do this (I am not prepared to check that option as I don't want to accidentally leave my seller a neg just to get a screen shot). I know if you try to scroll down with your keyboard arrows it can move the dot from Pos over to Neg, but you get the prompt when that happens.

I personally think it's a power trip thing because the buyer wants the upper hand, knowing it can't be removed. Besides, they can always revise it at the request of the seller, which most buyers would choose not to do because then they have lost the power.

Re: Neutral feedback for no reason

yes i agree with you neg feedback is often left for the wrong reasons it should be for bad sellers only but some people are very brave hiding on there computers and pushing red dots for nothing, but some are left in error (same as missed key strokes people dont read before sending) and when i see a good comment on a red dot i have the sense to know not to let it put me off from buying from that seller, i sell on 3 names and over the years have had some terrible red dots for nothing and i have learnt not to care about nasty buyers there's plenty of nice ones that make up for them thank goodness lol

A Neutral feedback cannot be changed to a Negative.

eBay encourages sellers to contact buyers if they feel that incorrect feedback has been left. I would think most sellers would follow up any neutral or negative feedbacks.

That's interesting, because I can see a revised feedback on Jul 31, 2010, a grey dot left on Jan 19, 2010 with a single word comment (nil, whatever that's supposed to mean), a red dot left on Dec 4, 2009, a grey dot on Aug 8, 2009, a grey dot on Jul 23, 2009, a grey dot on June 26, 2009, a red dot on Jul 20, 2008, a grey dot on Jul 20, 2008, a red dot on Jul 20, 2008 (busy day huh?), 3 red dots on Jul 19, 2008 (bad week?), grey dot left 10 Jun, 2008, grey dot May 10, 2008, a grey dot with a positive comment on Mar 11, 2008 (did you try and red dot that seller after they questioned you why you left a neutral?)

For someone who by your own words has never left a grey dot, there's an awful lot of red and grey dots left for sellers you've bought off. You've been busted.

Another one for the special list.
