Just got a message from ebay directing me to Australia Posts new large letters with tracking numbers. They look very affordable ( virtually the same price for 500gm. ) and could solve a lot of problems for sellers who use this postage method.

The AP link was sent as part of a message by ebay promoting tracking and starts by saying '' following a succesful trial the tracked letters will be rolled out nationally ". I havnt seen them at my post office, so it must not have been part of the trial. I suspect many other sellers would be in the same boat.
In answer to where have I been......I often go to my remote farm for days at a time. No internet and intermittent mobile phone coverage so I do miss stuff on the boards sometimes. ( that can be a blessing...... )

I had heard mention of these in the past but only noticed them on the shelves recently at the Post Office. I think in the beginning they may have only been offered in some areas.

Like your idea of the top corner.

Where do you get these stickers from?

Yes, just arrived at my post office too. As the initial link explained they have been succesfully trailed in selected locations in the past, but are now being rolled out Australia wide. Just purchased a pack of ten from my local PO. They are reasonably sturdy card ( around 300-400 gsm ) and could save on the cost of the existing 700 GSM mailers I currently use. All up, they look like a good answer to a problem that has plagued sellers who use large letters for years.

I only just recently discovered these too and agree no cost effective tracking option for letters has been a problem, so this is great. I also like the sturdy card the envelopes are made of, providing some protection without having to overpackage inside to keep within the 20mm. The smaller tracked envelopes are unfortunately only good for very thin items. Shame they don't allow 20mm for those

You can buy sheets of proper EAN barcodes labels from lots of sellers online. We use a simple free barcode generator program called Free Barcode Generator and simply drop it into a label template using Word. Alternatively, just find any barcode JPG image and create the same. Then just print off a few hundred at a time.
We use a 14 digit number which is the basis of Australia Post tracking numbers, just don't print the digits under the label so the buyer can check. But any barcode reader app could work that out.
I wonder how many Postie's have pulled out their mobile scanner and scanned the barcode before dropping it in the letterbox...
