No one has started a "my sales are dead" post for a few days so I thought I'd keep the tradition going.
Anyone else suffering from a run of "lights out" at the moment? My website shop is also similarly dead. Maybe it's the time of year or maybe it's just me. How are you going?

@*tippy*toes* wrote:Yes, wool prices are certainly up. I recently got just over $300 for 2 Merino fleeces (one being 14 micron, the other being around 17 micron, of which he is actually a crossbred, but despite being half Suffolk, has the wool of a Merino). Sadly, the F2 crossbreds didn't fair so well. I got $7.85 for the ewe and $12 for the wether. Their wool is carpet quality at best. I don't care. They are pets, so I don't care if they don't produce good wool. They were bred for the freezer, not their wool. No, they aren't going in the freezer!
I don't suppose that my (relatively) rare Giraffe Sheep wool is worth that sort of money Tippy ????

I think it is worth quite a bit padi, but it has to be prepared correctly and you need a commercial quantity. I,ve still got around half a dozen giraffe sheep and just carted quite a few bags of their wool out to my dump heap to burn in winter. I didn't want it getting mixed up with the sheeps wool, but it seems a bit of a waste.

I sent a few bags up to friends in Perth a while back, one bag off my younger Paccie seemed to be quite fine.
But as you say, there's a lot to preparing it, most of it down here seems to be used in the bottom of holes for trees and shrubs to hold moisture in.

Easily 20% of my buyers have feedback scores under 10 and a vast majority zero. Business has quickly picked up after my post last week...coincidence? Who knows!

Most businesses have busy and quiet periods.
In my 20 years selling on eBay, February is always a terrible month for my type of business on eBay.
So, I take that month off from selling on eBay and have a holiday from it.
My website through February has been quite steady with some good sales, which has been encouraging.

feb is usually a pick up month after xmas and january for me... but yes its slower on both my user ids. If I didn't sell overseas I think I'd be dead in the water... only one recent purchase has been from australia. Of course that isn't as great as local sales as thethe 10.9% postage charge is a lot higher - still grateful for the sales though

Thanks for that brer, but I only have 2 Paccies at the moment, so I'm just happy if I can pass the wool along to friends.
I believe you're right about the itching of it when the wool is a bit coarse and that's why they mix it with other wool. Of my 2 Paccies only one has fine wool that could possibly be used for knitting clothing.

Seems my light came on shortly after starting this thread. Have had a good number of sales on here and at my website since. But since it started at the same time on here and at my website, the "lights on/off" theory on here seems less likely. This time it is also a mix of domestic and international sales.
I might see a few more Holden sales in the near future as people start thinking about today's news of Holden being closed down.
