No sales?

No one has started a "my sales are dead" post for a few days so I thought I'd keep the tradition going.

Anyone else suffering from a run of "lights out" at the moment?  My website shop is also similarly dead.  Maybe it's the time of year or maybe it's just me.  How are you going?

I don't have a business account with ebay and I get all their business emails so I don't think they know what their own definition of a business account is.

I think if you reach a certain threshsold of turnover they start treating you as a business account holder.  I sold some higher value items a few years back and all of a sudden started reaceving emails as if I was a business

Re: No sales?

I use a high risk maybe slightly uneducated gambling type business model. So any incoming funds is prioritised to the purchase of new stock and what is left over pays the bills. My theory is once you cut back on the purchase of new stock it can be downhill from there. I would like to have some spare money but with a mortgage everything goes into that.

Re: No sales?

If you don't pay your fees your new stock will be no good to you. I realise you said you always pay by the due date but if you're only gambling that you'll have the money to pay them then you're indeed playing a risky game.

@ tazzie, once you sell over a certain amount they supposedly change your account to a business one. When they had free auto relists you only got them if you're weren't a business but I never lost them so I wasn't treated as a business for that reason.

Re: No sales?

I still get my 40 free listings each month, and they relist automatically, so as far as I can tell I'm still just a casual seller in eBay's eyes...who they send business emails to.

Re: No sales?

I really should say risk as I take a risk it will get paid on time. But having sold for so long I have a number items I will sell to raise funds when needed. One thing I learned early on is to have a few back up plans as ebay can shut you out without wanring.

Re: No sales?

I'm back to poor sales on eBay again.

One sale in just over two weeks on here.  Sales from my website has been a completely different story!  So strange.

Re: No sales?

My eBay backup plan includes a second account which I use to basically sell the low value stuff.  As long as it stays active with a few sales a month, I can always switch accounts if eBay has had enough of me on my main account.  A friend in the USA suggested a second PayPal account as well but with PayPal heading west soon, I may not need it as much.

So quiet sale wise this week, I might go down the supermarket for entertainment !

Re: No sales?

I Keep expecting sales to fall off a cliff with the Carona virus epedemic, but its just not happening. Sold six items to five different buyers overnight which is the best night time sales I have had for a very long time.

I,m just a small, part time seller, selling mainly used items, the same as most others here, so happy with those numbers. I suspect more people are staying at home, getting bored and shopping on the internet, rather than venturing out.
