Don't mind me - just ranting about postage charges from one of our Top Rated sellers.
TRS - Feedback nearly 3000 - selling clothes.
I bought two items - charged $11 combined postage.
*shrugs*
fair enough, I knew up front and calculated the cost into my purchase price calculations.
The items arrived today.
They were squished into a in a 500 g satchel - but here's the kicker - they weigh (according to my trusty digital postage weighing scales) 1006g

Have you read back over your posts and the responses of other posters that took time to respond to your OP?

of course!
and thank you to those who did respond - I should have said that earlier, my apologies.

The problem with Australia Post pricing policies is that parcels jump from 500 grams to 3 kilograms , there is no 1 kilo or 2 kilo bags and no sliding scales , if Australia postage had an increasing scale of prices for parcel worked out on a one gram basis then a 502 gram parcel should only cost a few cents extra over a 500 gram parcel instead the cost is almost double .
If you went into a fruit shop to buy some apples in a bag at $2 for 500grams and the assistant said '' that because the apples weighed 502 grams you had to pay twice the price '' most people would think that was unfair .
great post appletreeaaa, and spot on, It really irks me having to charge or pay for 3kg. when the parcel is 600gm or so

posting 1006 g in a 500 g satchel.
evading eBay fees by putting profit into postage and not sale price.
charging more for postage than what eBay allows.
Not even sure about the tax man....
sheep it wasn't evading eBay fees. PP would still have it's cut on the FVF (inclusive of the 11.00 postage)eBay got its cut from both items sold but AP got diddled a bit. the main thing is you got your items safe and sound

I can't get my head around what the ATO has to do with a seller charging $11 for postage & 'diddling' AP-who I presume you've now rung-however,why don't you do yet another civic duty & call the ATO on Monday & report the seller for the $11.I'm sure all other ebay sellers would appreciate your civic mindedness yet again.:-x

I can't believe that anyone who sells on eBay would be worried about Australia Post profits. Take it from me, they care nothing about you, except how to rip you off even more than they do already.
Look at it this way, if they can make a profit on what they charge for a 3kg satchel (and they do, don't worry about that), why does it cost the same for a parcel that weighs a third of that and why do you have to go all the way down to a sixth of that weight (500gms) before the cost reduces by a half? Why is it not just over a sixth of the cost (allowing for the cost of satchel manufacture)? The answer is that they use that extra profit to subsidise high volume business customers. If it costs me and you and most every other incidental user a certain amount to send a parcel of a certain weight, then it should be the same amount for a corporate user no matter how many parcels they send. Anything else is at the same level as "ticket scalping".
As for the person, who sold you the items in question, they set a price for shipping (not postage) and then discounted it by $2.00 and you are complaining about them because they managed to get one over on Australia Post. If they had sent the items separately, they would have been forced to charge you the full amount which likely would have been greater than $11.00. Seems to me, you got a portion of the difference in postage cost and if you consider that you still paid to much for postage then you should be complaining to AP about their unfair pricing structure, not this seller.
