Non paying buyer

When a buyer doesn't pay... many emails later,.... eBay opens an unpaid item case, which buyer ignores -  and that buyer continues to NOT pay for many of his "purchases" but retains his 100% feedback rating. This is not right. People ae being caught and wasting so much time on this sort of thing. WHY can't you leave a negative feedback for a NON-paying "buyer"?

Re: Non paying buyer

Wow, you will get a lot of this - I can see from your rating that this is a bit new for you.  I know it's not fair, but as another poster said, EBay really seem to protect the buyer, that's just the way it is and no amount of getting annoyed will change it.  It's not fair I know but they will never change it.  You will feel like you are banging your head on a brick wall, but it will happen - all you can do is if they don't pay, open an unpaid item dispute, then if they still don't pay, put them on your blocked bidders list and move on.  Eventually if they keep doing the same they won;t be able to buy anymore on EBay anyhow.  A lot of sellers here (me included) have our settings set up that people with 2 or more unpaid item disputes in the last 12 months are blocked from buying anything from you.  You should check your settings and make sure yours are set up like this too.

Re: Non paying buyer

I as a seller have this issue at least once a week. One that caught my attention was from a buyer

I wasnt scammed in anyway. The buyer just won the bidding and never paid. So had to submit a UPI.

What do they get out of this I dont know. So makes me wonder why they bother doing this.

I wonder how many more ebay accounts this user has.

Enough said, ive now learnt to list items blocking any users who have 2 UPI's against them. Lets see how things go!!

Re: Non paying buyer

Oh here we go again!! Davewil do you always have to find something I write and pick at it?

You actually think if it was a legit ebay user that I would post it on here? The evidence is right there in the username and people like that shouldnt be on ebay to give us sellers a hard time when they are NOT serious buyers but scammers.

Dave was trying to protect you. He just doesn't use unnecessary words.

It is against the Board Usage Policy to Name other members, (even if they're shonky) the names get edited out by the mods and you might get a warning. Enough warnings and you get banned from the boards.

Re: Non paying buyer

Mate...

I have sold a helluva lot more than you. I also understand board usage policy. It has everything to do with a blanket, no exceptions, policy against naming other members (especially when bagging them) and nothing to do with the elements of the name.

I am always happy to help educate those who don't understand that the rules are applied universally (unless you are a mega seller, in which case NO rules apply, but they don't come to the boards).

Re: Non paying buyer

Yes I have had several non-paying buyers and it's an increasing trend. They're only emboldened with eBbay not registering a strike or feedback. The dispute cam also lock you in for a month where you can't resell anyway. I also had one instance whre a person bought, paid through paypal and cancelled the transaction within paypal. As all looked ok I had posted the item and that was the end of the story - out of pocket.

that buyer continued to trade with no reprimand from eBay at all

Re: Non paying buyer

Dave, All respect to you and your knowledge mate.

Just using this seller as an example, why would he or she go through the effort of creating a profile, bid on an item and had no intention of purchasing from the start?

Reason why I mentioned the username is because the word "scam" was part of the name. Now to me it doesnt seem to be a buyer who have bid and changed their mind.

Would anyone know if they get anything out of this. There has been no contact between me and this person so its not like they have any of my account details because I havent selected it to be sent automatically after the auctioned ended as their is an option for it.

Re: Non paying buyer

What effort?

A name and an email address is all it takes.

Maybe they have had issues with you in the past? No idea, but I know it happens.

There are quite a few regulars on this board who nobody in their right mind would deal with, going on the user name. This IS cyberspace where the normal rules of social interaction don't seem to count.
