I know there are plenty of ways to get traffic to your store, but what if you dont have a store and have to first compete with stores to even get to the point where it is worth having a store. I cant justify having a store right now obviously especially if the store costs are about to double. The only thing I can think to do is charge a bit less and lose some profit in order to gain some sales. Other then that maybe have a picture tht stands out more, better product descriptions. I think if you are truly selling niche products you'd have better luck competing without a store, but finding a niche product these days is trickier then it seems.
I am doing a course on selling on ebay (inlaws paid a heap of money for it, but then didnt have the time so passed it onto us) Anyway this worked for me because I wanted to open an online store and want to use selling on Ebay to fund my stock for that store. The products I want to sell are brands that dont allow selling on Ebay, which is good in my opinion.
But of course sounds like this course would have profitted more like 5 years ago and of course selling from Australia almost doesnt work at all. Soon I will start dropshipping from the states and just sell within the states, but even there I will competeting with heaps of stores. Sorry to ramble on but thats my story. Course has taught me heaps but only discusses maximizing traffic from a store point of view.

Hi Kerri, yes thats my problem too. Right now I just buy from the states the shipping time is reasonable I find it easier to build a trustable relationship with the suppliers there (compared to china) and the minimums are low. I looked into some suppliers from Australia but they had high minimums and it seemed alot of them really only supported already established businesses, oh and alot of the stuff i looked at I could get cheaper in the states.
I notice you sell beads I have a wholesale directory, mainly US suppliers but there is a small category of australian suppliers and two bead companies, if you are interested shoot me a message and Ill send the details through to you.
Oh and thats great you have some return customers! thats a business milestone right there in my opinion.

Ebay needs to spend a small percentage of it's fortune on TV advertising in order to assist sellers who are making their millions...
It is still one of the most effective advertising mediums and I believe that with the right campaign ebay store owners would see immediate benefits...
Alot of people know the name 'ebay'...would be good if they could see and hear what it's all about...
Right now ebay assists sellers with tools for online marketing & advertising...
Online retail is still only around 10-15% (estimated figures) of total retail sales...
I believe that much more effort needs to be focused towards marketing and advertising to the other 85-90% of potential customers who obviously at the moment lack awareness and have no reason to go and shop in ebay stores
If you need marketing help ebay....you are welcome to contact me...

Oh dear, I won't even comment on the course or dropshipping as I think enough has been said. I couldn't bring myself to read all of the posts so I don't know if this has been said, but as you asked how to optimize traffic to your listings when you don't have a store:
If you list auction rather than buy-it-now your items will eventually work their way to the top of searches as they approach end date.
You can use a few auctions as loss leads to encourage buyers to look at your other listings. In your listings you can add a link that takes the buyers to a list of your other items.
You can build a website and advertise it to your buyers, plus on your website you can advertise your current eBay auctions.
However, at the end of the day, if the demand for what you sell is greater than the supply buyers will look for and find your listings. Do your homework on the items you are selling. There is no point listing items that are in huge supply already as you get caught up in a price war.
Avoid driving traffic to listings that are not likely to convert to sales. If everyone looks but nobody buys it can have a negative effect on your position in search results.
My advice is NEVER list cheaper than your competitors. Price match certainly but don't start a price war because down the track you will regret it. Treat your competitors with respect and they will hopefully do the same.
Good luck 🙂

hi re the pics have you thought of editing them a little online at photobucket . you can add captions, frames etc or just fiddle with the colour etc for a better quality.
also are you using clicknsend for post? you buy the satchels from the auspost seller on ebay , freepost, $1.50 for 5 x 500g , apx . then only pay the postage online when youve sold the item. print the label , post. no lining up at the post office to buy them over the counter.
i want to send you a link to a usa website you might be interested in looking at, no reading or courses etc promise.
cheers 🙂
