On May the Third I sent an identical replacement to my buyer (who paid via paypal), she received her item on the ninth of May, signed the proof of delivery from the courier, and emailed me to confirm the delivery and that she will leave positive feedback.
Paypal then stole the purchase amount from my paypal account yesterday and refunded buyer. The case was apparently still open (from not receiving her first parcel that was lost by Australia Post), it seems that Paypal either ignored or did not view the supporting proof of delivery and buyer's delivery confirmation email that I sent Paypal. I appealed however no replies from Paypal.
Is there anywhere or anyone I can contact to stop this Paypal crime? Has anyone had any similar experiences with a positive outcome they can help me with?
I did an online search titled "paypal stole my money" and was shocked to see how many times Paypal had stolen from accounts around the globe. Can Paypal (our favourite way to pay online) do so much harm or are the hundreds of thousands of complaints just fluff.
Anyway, I just filed an online police report to the federal police about Paypal stealing my money, however I would like to know if there is any more I can do. Has anyone tried the media (TV, papers, forums, youtube, facebook, social networking, etc and what have been the results)? I was thinking about doing a youtube file about this including all supporting documents for everyone to see, to create awareness for Paypal users. Any feedback on this?
As an outcome I would like to see Paypal reinstate my money and to do the right thing by the ebay community.

One time several years ago, some buyer in Greece put in a (most likely) bogus non-receipt claim for an item I sold him and PayPal stole the money from my account on his behalf.
However, a few days later PayPal refunded me the money from their own coffers as some kind of 'courtesy' gesture.

Thanks guys, plenty to go on from all your input and support.
After sending the supporting documents to paypal last Thursday night via attached email, I didn't follow up with a phone call. I suppose in my mind I would have liked to think a multi billion dollar multi national company who are leaders in internet auctions would have measures in place to ensure everything is accounted for. Therefore Monday morning (I wonder if Paypal are open weekends) I will call Paypal about their error, hoping they will do the right thing.
I have also contacted the buyer telling her what Paypal had done, and asked if she would be so kind as to pay for her purchase...again. In her reply email she said she would.
Oh, the latest from Paypal - they refunded the buyer another payment today (the buyer purchased 4 separate items all $80 each, which I combined and posted together). It seems that Paypal are not even looking at the attached files from their own forms, so much for being reviewed by Paypal experts.
So the total refunded to the buyer is $160.00, I wonder if Paypal will do the other $160.00 as well. Sorry folks, but this is getting beyond a joke. Keep the solutions coming.

There is not much point in asking for more solutions to your problem until you have tried the most logical and simple one.....ring paypal.

Were all the items included in the same invoice, paid for in a single payment and posted together?

I don't get this? Why are you sending second items when the first is lost by Australia Post.....a seller is responsible for delivery to the post office.......Australia Post error isn't the seller's problem?
Why are you quoting proof of delivery? proof of postage is what's required to effect seller protection, proof that you delivered to the post office sent to the buyer's address, that's what you have to submit to Paypal to defend an item not received claim, proof of delivery is actually irrelevent, possibly why you lost the case?

Same thing happened to me this week. Ebay and Paypal just refunded the buyer. In my case, buyer made no contact with me whatsoever.
Furthermore, according to ebay's own terms and conditions, they have to refund the buyer and THEN make a payment request to the seller.
So Ebay have breached their own policy TWICE !!

This thread will have it's first birthday on Friday and Daddy hasn't been on the boards for almost as long, so I doubt s/he will respond.
However, if the buyer opened a dispute with Paypal, that is who you deal with. eBay has nothing to do with disputes in Australia, Paypal does. They will freeze your money as soon as the dispute is opened and give it to the buyer if they find in the buyer's favour. They do not ask for your permission, nor are they required to.
Did you, perchance, fail to respond to a dispute?

oh ok.... yeah often threads are years old before they come up in google search.
But thank you for the post. I live in Uk so we deal with ebay.
No I didnt fail to respond to dispute, I did eveything I was supposed to do, Had proof of posting, everything.
Ebay terms and conditions say buyer must try to resolve issue with seller, before they consider a claim.
My buyer never once contacted me and ignored my copy of the postal receipt.

You are unlikely to get much help here, then, except advice to talk to eBay or the relevant ombudsman, as I believe UK sellers need to provide proof of delivery, not just postage.
Anyway, the protection programmes here are different to the UK, and few of us have experience with how things work there.
