Phishing attacks

Be very careful folk, I have had 3  phishing  attacks today, 1 when I was doing online banking and 2 whilst in here (eBay)  Have changed my passwords in both places - thanks to my virus protection

Phishing is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money) by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

It would be wise to also run your anti spyware as you may have downloaded a Trojan or Keylogger,(hence, why

it targeted those two specifically,

Re: Phishing attacks

It might pay to check what you have downloaded recently by checking your Control Panel - Programs , if anything has been installed recently something may have piggy backed.

I always do a manual install and make sure I untick and extra's Smiley Wink

Re: Phishing attacks

Thanks for the heads up OP.

I've gotta ask though, which joker brought a hyperlink to a thread titled Phishing attacks ?

That's kinda like taking a stripper to a monastery. Smiley Tongue

Re: Phishing attacks

I am actually quite computer litterate  so do know what I am doing - the link via my word 'phishing' is very harmless, just gives more information than I could

I just wanted to let eBay  peeps know what was around, can''t be the only person that gets warnings about them can I?

Re: Phishing attacks

LOL that's cool & makes sense. I wondered why I couldn't find the link, now I know. Smiley Wink

I really enjoyed the irony of it. Links are like heights are to some people, if you tell them not to look it ensures that they will, just to see for themselves what it is you don't want them to see. So there are some topics/threads you just don't want to find links posted in. Imo Phishing attacks would be right up there on the list, not too far behind Trojan attacksSmiley Tongue

I hope if you did a system restore, you did it before running the scanners, otherwise anything removed would have been reinstalled after doing a system restore!

Thanks for the heads up about yet another scam. I'm starting to feel a little left out. No phishing emails and no emails from eBay telling me they have upgraded my DSR's!!

I think the last (potential) phishing email I got was about 12 months ago and the sender was 'ebay seller' and they were supposidly wanting to send me a surprise gift for buying off them. As if I'd be stupid enough to click on their link!
