Postage tracking showing no events....where has my parcel gone?!

Thank goodness I already knew the boards were here to actually ask this, good one ebay.

So as the title states, where on earth is my parcel?

First item sold and sent after not being a buyer or seller on ebay for about 5 years. Regular pre-paid 500g satchel, and tracking was uploaded to buyers details. Funds are held by PP thanks to the new rules, but that's a whooollle other vent.

Thought I'd check last night to see how far away it was (buyer hasn't said anything, I just wanted to see), and am kicking myself for not checking earlier. The damn thing shows no events! No scanning, nothing.

It was posted via a red post box outside the local p/o last Tuesday. It was at lunchtime so it would have been taken that day when the box was emptied.

Obviously I'll ring Aus Post but I can't put in a missing parcel query as it's not yet long enough to be considered missing. But how on earth do I chase up something that isn't even showing as posted?!

I'm not sure how much of an effect it will have (if indeed any) but it wouldn't hurt to lodge an official complaint with the Postal Ombudsman, explaining everything exactly as you've explained it here. At the very least you'll be on record as having had issues with the Mornington DC, and it's possible that AP will even launch an investigation into any dodgy practices at the DC so that it doesn't happen again.

Having said that, although it's probably a PITA, it's definitely in your best interests to lodge your items over the counter at your local PO rather than entrusting them to the dangers of street posting boxes. Excluding the possibility of dishonest AP employees, bored teenagers have a nasty habit of taking out their boredom and frustration on street boxes by pouring liquids or other unmentionable things into them, and in some cases, even setting them alight, so that whatever you've posted is a total loss with no record of its ever having been posted.

Yes indeed cq.
We use our local red street box too. It's emptied at 5pm according to the notice on it so we always leave it until 30-minutes before that before we put our stuff in there so it's not exposed to bored teenagers for too long. I went there one day and the entire red box was laying on it's side in the kerbside.

Re: Postage tracking showing no events....where has my parcel gone?!

Even worse Clarry, once the LPO at our local shopping centre closes, the only place to post one's mail is in the large red box which is located just outside the centre's main (locked) doors, and twice now in the last 12 months alone, the hateful little grubs who hang about that area after hours have set it on fire, resulting in the total loss of everything inside, and on the most recent occasion, almost burning down the entire centre when the fire spread before the FB arrived just in time to put it out.

I can't imagine that too many people would be posting anything after 9pm or before 7am when the centre is open so why the box hasn't been relocated to inside the main centre is beyond me. The funny thing is that even now I still see lots of people using it, even when the PO is open and is only a short 30m walk inside the centre.

Re: Postage tracking showing no events....where has my parcel gone?!

AUST POST ! What a let down .. I use ebay satchels (with printed labels) & tracking

I usually check the tracking after a few days.

One parcel was showing no scans or movement for a week, and I started to get nervous

The next day it was "in transit" .. and the week after it was still "in transit"

I messaged the buyer apologising for the slow delivery & explained I dont know why it is taking so long !

Thankfully my buyer was honest !!!! & responded with "dont worry dear I already have it" !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody AUST POST .. delivered and never scanned grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Pay a fortune for post .. Do all the right things ...

and would of got screwed by AUST POST

I rang and made a complaint  ... LIFT YA GAME !!
