I sent a PM to a member, and had a response.
Tried to reply but Lithium tell me "One or more of these members doesn't have PM's enabled. Their names have been removed from the send to list". First time I tried there was supposed to be invalid HTML in there?? What HTML??
I just tried to send another with just 'testing' as the message - but the red error bits came up again.
Can anyone explain why?

Now I've just received one and replied - all okay
Sent one to helen - okay
Tried to send one to another member who messaged me - NOT okay.
What's going on??
Just going to try again to my original person and see what happens this time.

But if I sent the member a PM today, and received a reply, surely that member must have PM's turned on?

Maybe they don't really want PMs and have disabled them? Or played with the settings without realising.
A long bow admittedly, but all I can think of.
Word is full of extraneous unseen formatting. Notepad is pure text. Much better

Interestingly enough, the original member who I sent a PM to, and received a reply, has seen this thread and sent me another PM.
But I still couldn't respond.
I've sent and received PM's from quite a few of you - and I thank you for attempting to help me out here.
There's got to be a simple explanation as to why I cannot send PM's to that particular member - even when they just say 'testing'.

That's not the case. Read my post above this.
If Lithium had let me send the message in the first instance, I wouldn't have needed to copy it to Word. It was reasonably lengthy, and you know what it's like, you can't remember word for word what you wrote, so the easiest thing is to copy it elsewhere.

I received yours and answered - it is sitting there unread.
Check your settings.

If I've sent and received to you and others after my hiccup, and received again from my original PM person, haven't touched anything, why would my settings have changed just for one member.
I even added this person as a friend.

I replied to your reply at 4:39pm. It is showing at my end that you have not yet read that message.
