Hi,
Recently I received a complaint from one of my customers about the item they had purchased. I make mostly SP bracelets with charms and beads, they complained that the beads had tarnished. I have sold hundreds of these Silver Plated bracelets and use a lot of the same beads on other bracelets, and have not had a single complaint about the beads tarnishing. The customer was quite rude in their messages but as you do, you be polite and try to come to a solution. I had asked if it has been in contact with water or chemicals as it is only Silver Plated, they replied "no". I was told bad feedback was coming my way! I was totally upset by this as I had asked them to send it back to me and I will refund their money. Never received the item, and got Neutral feedback. I was and am still puzzled by this complaint due to the fact that I have had no other complaints. Were they just trying to get their money back and a free item? Or just nasty for the hell of it? I wonder.....they are blocked now anyway, I don't want to sell my items to people like that. 🙂

Many years ago I had all my gold jewelery silver plated because I only wear silver and I can assure you the jeweller used silver with which to to the plating and I keep sterling silver bracelets really shiny by having them cleaned by the jeweller and then rhodium plated.
As for cheap silver plated jewellery, if it blackens then I just discard it if it was cheap, couldn't be bothered wasting my time leaving neg feedback after some very umpleasant sellers a few years ago didn't like that they were caught out selling silver plated and not solid sterling silver.

As for my Silver Plated bracelets, I write in the description exactly what they say they are when I buy them. They are just cheap fashion jewellery. I'm not an expert on jewellery I just love to make them, so I wouldn't really know what I was getting when I receive them. 😐

I haven't even looked at your items but if I am happy with an item and I get to wear it to where ever I wanted it for and then later it tarnishes then I am happy.
I have been out with people spending $10 or more per drink all night long and I am drinking water (but really wishing I could have a cuppa) so costume jewellery is my drinks for the night (and no hangover).

I'm like that too! I would prefer a cuppa. In my descriptions it states Silver Plate/Tone, I thought everyone knew that Silver Plate tarnishes over time and Sterling Silver you can pretty much wear it in water everyday unlike SP.

Thanks Foxette...I have fixed up those mistakes. 🙂

Always sterling silver items with a stick of ordinary chalk. This absorbs the sulphur in the air and prevents tarnish. I would suggest the same for silver plate too.
Sterling is very susceptible to tarnish. Why do you think the old English butlers in mansions were always polishing the silver.....because it was sterling and the homes were polluted with their open fires.
A bit of usless information....this is why the correct way to eat asparagus was with fingers (still is)....because the juice stained sterling silver cutlery..
