Remember When .....

... it was great to achieve a feedback score of 1500.

Feedback was different, buyers and sellers were treated equally. DSR's and Defects didn't exist. Paypal was just one option for payment. Fees were reasonable. Free postage was very unusual. Postage costs did not attract fees. Powerseller status really meant you were a big seller and most sellers just didn't sell enough to achieve it. Ebay Premium Service didn't exist you just sent things out as quickly as possible.

Things were different then but are they better now?

Re: Remember When .....

I never used to bother giving negs to non payers so no change there.

I have always been treated exactly the same as a buyer and as a seller, no problems if I follow ebay policy so no change there.

I now sell a lot more than \I used to in the so called good old days and my overall annual profit  is higher as I 'work the system' as far as free listings go so my fees are actually less than the 'good old days', good change there.

I can now block repeat non payers so change for the better there.

I offer different payment methods and also offered Paypal long before there was an Australian site as I had a UK Paypal account so no change there.

Ah yes, the good old days when there was only ebay buyer protection which had a minimum payout of $25 and didn't cover postage.

When unscrupulous sellers could give retaliatory negs and then blackmail buyers into withdrawing them.

When there was no such thing as an instant payment as everyone used bank deposit.

When you couldn't open an unpaid item dispute for 7 days.

What good old days were those?

Re: Remember When .....

A lot of the changes have been driven by sellers who proffesionalised in an environment that was originally just a trading site. Feedback, and the catch cry I leave it when the transaction is finalsed, is the classic example of where the system was gamed and eventually undermined then necesarily changed.

Can't say I do. Maybe in 2016. And you wouldn't either, given you've only just achieved it.

Oh, congratulations on your 1500....

Re: Remember When .....

Yes, I remember 10 years ago when I never had to phone eBay and I was never on any forum searching for answers to problems as , fair dinkum. I didn't have any.
eBay was the only job I ever had where I didn't either become a union rep , a defender or a stand up for your rights soap box junkie. .
eBay was the least stressful job I had ever had ........until this year.........

Re: Remember When .....

I had non payers 10+ years ago - weak excuses included. Haven't had any recently. I think it depends also on what you sell... More NPB's in DVD category than Craft category, for example.

Paypal comes with a fee to the seller but it is convenient. I have had 3 buyers pay by bank deposit recently and it is kind of annoying ( prefer to pay for online postage labels direct from paypal a/c to seller account).

40 free listings is great.

Could do without the FVF in postage costs though.

Re: Remember When .....

I remember the days when we did not have ebay employees coming onto the boards, masquerading as normal members, and giving one-sided information and pontificating their views .

.

and when you challenge them, they report you, and get you slapped . . . . . .

.

.

It is not over until the fat lady posts

At least one fat lady has posted on this thread.....does it mean the thread is over now?

Ebay employees don't masquerade a normal members.....on the few occasions they do appear it is very obvious by the blue boxes around their posts.
