Removing http links

Just recieved a warning from ebay that 110 of my listings on one ID only, have http links which is a violation. The other two stores are unaffected, even though I use exactly the same listing techniques on those  id's. I dont use a hosting service for my photos. I suspect the problem is the ebay generated " powered by selling manager pro" icon at the bottom of the listing. I didnt put it there, ebay did.

Is it likely that that is the problem ? and if so is there a way to edit it out in bulk or do I have to do each listing individually ?

Chamelon, so "what" part of your listing did the ebay rep actually change then ? can you notice the change or is it not an obvious change ? I'm not real tech savy so not sure if I am understnading this or not but I have around 300 (other account) that I am slowly working through and hoping what I am changing is correct.

I have a few listings left that cs could not edit due to the fact that the pictures did not meet the current standards, so I have a few unchanged ones to compare to the edited ones. Frankly I cant see any difference. All of my web id,s have htpps at the start, so maybe that is it, but that includes the ones that have not been changed. This could be because in those particular listings, the photos are the problem, whereas in all of the others it may have been the web address at the top of the page.

Many of the edited listings have the " powered by selling manager pro " icon still visible, so that has not been changed on my listings. My best guess is that it relates to currones post in regards to adding an "S" to the end of htpp in the web id.

Re: Removing http links

Hi all, I, too, was tearing my hair out over this because even once I got the security certificate installed on my image hosting (totally freeee through Dreamhost!), I had no idea how to bulk-edit 500+ listings but there is absolutely a way. Thanks to a super-helpful eBay rep though, Mariel C, I had it done incredibly quickly and easily in bulk. The steps to follow are:

This is how to locate the HTTP listings:

1. On top of the eBay logo on the upper left side you can see there 'G'day *your eBay username*' please hover your mouse on that page and then click 'Account Settings'.

2.After clicking account setting please look for the word 'Activity'

3. After clicking activity on the left side you can see there the word 'List' and under list please click the word 'All selling'.

4.It will prompt you to the page where you can see Your Performance-Monthly selling limits- Selling Reminders.

5. Under selling reminders you can see there "Remove HTTP content from your listings for Remove HTTP content from your listings for *however many you have* listings' and then click the highlighted number *however many you have* listings.

This is how to change the HTTP to HTTPS:

1.Once you click the *however many you have* listings it will prompt you to a page where you can see all the listings that has an HTTPS issue.

2.Below Results please look for the word 'Actions' on the left side of actions there is a tick box please click that and then all of your listing will be marked as CHECK, next is click EDIT and it will prompt you to the next page where you need to click OK.

3.On the next page please click the first check box below 'Edit Fields' and then please click Edit fields.

4. Please choose 'Item Description' and it will prompt you again to a different page where you need to choose ' edit listing in bulk- find and replace'

5.Inside the 'FIND' box please type there HTTP and inside the 'REPLACE WITH' box please type there HTTPS.

6. Click SAVE AND CLOSE and your listing will be good to go.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Thank you.   I just wonder why Ebay couldnt have provided that information up front.  Oh thats right they don't offer customer service, just customer frustration

Re: Removing http links

So glad it helped even a few people! And yes, I wondered what would have happened had I not phoned as I would have NEVER sorted this. Ironically I rang to find out why my GTC listings were just mysteriously ending and it was a glitch due to me having bulk-edited postage, which then made them all revert to 7 day listings (!!!). When I said "oh, I thought maybe it was due to the https thing" she said "Oh I can help you with that, too", and sent me through the instructions. Lucky fluke!!

Its an ebay glitch, after you have fixed it Ebay are not removing it from list, even though listing is now fine.

Just leave it as it as and it will get sorted eventually

Its just their half baked way of introducing something that doesn't work yet

Thanks, that saved me from making a call to eBay CS, and the notification is now gone Smiley Very Happy

Re: Removing http links

If you can't have a security cert then you can still use the find and replace, it will just remove the links in your listing. Unfortunately it doesn't remove the frames I had round most of my pics so I am having to go in and delete them individually.

If I knew what part of the html put the frames there I could bulk edit that using F&R but I am pretty clueless in that area.
