Hi, I would like some advice on a return request I have received.

I sold a brand new dress, posted, and  received by buyer. Feedback received, alls good.

Yesterday I received a return request as beading on front of dress is damaged. Buyer stated they bought it for a function which has now passed. Buyer sent photos of front of dress and sure enough some of the beads are missing.  I offered a partial refund which they declined as they no longer had need of the dress and they were not able to wear it to their function . I know when I posted the dress that there was no damage, I also have photos of the dress that show there was no damage to beading.

Buyer states ebay post bag was damaged and that maybe dress was damaged in transit. This is when I started to doubt the buyer, ebay bags are tough not easy to damage and almost impossible to open without ripping them apart. So I went and had a look at the buyers facebook page and there is a photo there of her wearing the dress, at her function.

So what do I do, or what can I do. She has worn the dress, probably became damaged during this time. How can I prove to ebay that this item was not damaged. How should I respond to buyer, should I accept the return and try and fight it once I get the dress back.

I have found this year there are many more buyers who claim item is damaged when they received it. Mostly when I ask for photos to compare to my photos, they disappear never to be heard from again.

Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently you can't make your photos private.

Stawks, I believe you can - when you post something you have the option of choosing your audience under the "Who can see this" tab on the photo loader.

As mentioned, all your photos can be private. The only one that remains public is your profile picture. The thing with Facebook is, it doesn't matter how strict your privacy settings are, as soon as one of your friends comments or likes, all their friends can the see that entry.

Facebook has a lot of good points, which you never hear about. You only ever hear the bad stuff. Unlike so many others, I choose not to plaster my entire life on it. I saw a good meme last night "my Facebook crashed, now I'm going to have to ring 640 people to tell them I just went to the gym". I have friends who plaster their entire life on it.

One drives me nuts. She posts photos of every meal and every cup of coffee. She posts no less than 30 photos a day of her child, doing mundane things like watching TV or eating an ice cream. She went to the Gold Coast this week and there must have been 50 photos just on the plane. Then she nails me down at work and shows me all the photos she's already flooded my news feed with. I don't even like her spoilt brat!

I don't post anything that I wouldn't want seen on the front page of the paper. If everyone treated it the same way there wouldn't be the issues that there is with it. The amount of people I've seen post photos of their kids in the bath is astounding. Then they get upset when some sicko gets hold of them. When you mention about posting photos like that, they always come back with "I have strict privacy settings". Not good enough!

It does get a lot of people in strife. People often get "busted", like the OP's buyer. People have lost jobs. People have not got jobs they've applied for. All because they decide to post every drunken photo, or photos of them up to no good. I don't even use my real name. My name is nothing like my own.
