SORRY BUT I HAVE TO CLOSE MY STORE 14 SEPT I CANT AFFORD IT

I am closing down.... I wont get free listings on this ID but I can use my hubbys and my other ones. I will go to the other site...just made $30 on there and sent two 3 kg bags of books off. Its slower yes but its a good place to park my listings while I use the free ones.

I was going to close down at the end of the year anyway...my health is not good and I cant keep on. This way, it will slow down for me and I can relax a bit.

I dont buy my items wholesale...I am not a business...so I actually  make very little. Its always been a hobby for me, a way to pass the time because I cant ever go out to work again and I was bored with just reading, watching telly etc.

Now I havent the energy. I think the fee hike is an insult...sorry ebay but thats what I think..>You have raised the store fee twice since I opened my store but THIS TIME its a huge increase and we are going to all feel it.

Why are you not loyal to the hobby sellers too? I know I have made you and paypal a lot of money over the years off every single thing I have sold here.

I am sorry but I am going to the other site. I cannot take all this holding out your hand for my precious dollars anymore.

I have nothing against ebay, I just have something against all the fees... on the other site its FREE to list and you only pay 2 % FVF.

Ebay has millions of people paying fees and I dont beleive for one second that ebay cant afford to give us a break . Why get us all to open a store and then say, sorry, we want business people, not  YOU to own a store.

If you look at my feedback I have had barely a complaint, its all been good so its not like I and others like me are not delivering good service.

Sorry about the long ramble...I have just had it so in two weeks, I am closing. All my titles of all my items are going to say that too.

So goodbye to the good customers who have ebayed with me, it was fun while it lasted. Since I was made a powerseller, without even asking if I wanted to be one, i cant have the free listings...so.... I will not be using this one again it seems and its a shame when I have built up my feedback as i have. Another thing I am very sad about.

Some of you can afford to keep going, but I cant.

Me too...I have closed my shop. It's closed already. The free shipping is being hinted, and will come. If you don't offer it, you will be shut down. And the rest, higher fvfs to come???

It will be harder and harder in ebay for sellers in the future & lots of buyers actually do shop elsewhere, a LOT many buyers too are fed up with ebay.Word in the street "it's broken and had it".

Sorry you have to close Beani...it's the hobby sellers like you who are will cop the main brunt of all this nonsense. I am totally over it all.

And it's not just about a six buck a week increase phorum junkie, I often find your attitude incredibly terse and you appear to enjoy ruffling peoples feathers and upsetting folks, giving pro negative comments when they are not necessary at all. Sadly Putney too...jilly

Australia Post is a slightly different issue - their charges are so high because of the ever-increasing overseas purchases, which they then have to deliver for pretty much nothing, which has become a viscious cylcle of huge losses with an attempt to recover them via price increases

That isn't really how it works, all countries deliver overseas mail regardless of how much the sender paid their local PO.  AP are getting a fortune for sending parcels overseas that are then delivered by the receiving postal service.

At the moment the AU$ is much stronger than other currencies, a few years ago it was weaker. This more than anything is responsible for the the number of imported items, at the moment more Aus buyers are buying overseas and fewer are selling overseas, a few years ago it was the other way round.

All this means is that it is swings and roundabouts, sometimes AP are delivering more overseas parcels than they are sending and at other times the reverse will be true.

Re: SORRY BUT I HAVE TO CLOSE MY STORE 14 SEPT I CANT AFFORD IT

I've been doing mail order since the mid-1970s (yes, I do look young for my age, thanks!) and Australian postage has always been at least twice as expensive as in the USA. The exhange rate has nothing to do with it -- the usual excuse is we pay more because we have less infrastructure and a smaller population.

Another one is that nobody sends plain letters any more since the advent of email. But it's always been a rip-off.

As an international trader, I find Austpost's absurdly prohibitive postage is a much bigger impediment to selling than eBay Australia's capricious fee restructuring antics -- although that certainly doesn't help much either.

I know all countries have to deliver incoming mail, but a mailman in China getting paid a few cents to deliver a letter from Australia isn't one of Australia Post's costs, it's the mail man here getting paid a few dollars to deliver a letter from China that's the cost they have to bear, and they probably only receive a few cents towards it, they can't make the Chinese postal service charge their customers more to recoup the loss, so there's really only one source from which they can do so.

Isn't it then logical that they charge that fortune to send parcels overseas so that they're still making a profit overall? And if those losses increase by an increase in overseas purchases, there remains only one source from which they can get the $'s to even out the balance.

And there are many countries where delivery costs are higher than those charged by AP, do you want those countries to say sorry, can't deliver the mail from AP unless we get paid a bit more?

The only way it can possibly work is if all countries deliver imported parcels without any extra payment being made or, indeed any refund being given if the delivery fee is cheaper.

The way it has to work is one thing - I get those things - what I'm actually talking about is how Australia Post deal with the way it has to work and ultimately make their business profitable.
