I find it extremely frustrating that as a seller, I can not leave an inconsiderate buyer the negative feedback they deserve. In the last 3 weeks, I have had two buyers who have won items with me, made arrangements for pick up Then not showed at the arranged time. They havent contacted me to cancel or reschedule or to say they've just changed there minds. I feel that this definitely warrant negative feedback. I would want to know from other sellers if a buyer has history of this kind of thing. This is very frustrating yet I cant give them anything yet they can leave me negative feedback in spite of my negative comments? Not fair Ebay! Time to change the rules!!

Yes it is extremely frustrating when buyers don't respond, pay etc, but leaving negative feedback (in my view) isn't the answer.
Never leave a negative comment with a positive feedback green dot. A much more effective method is to use ebay's dispute centre to lodge a non payment. If the buyer doesn't respond, you can in four days re-coup your fees and the buyer will receive a non payer strike. A few of these then they can't buy or have restrictions placed upon their buying power on ebay.
This way, all sellers can be (to some degree) protected from repeat offenders.
Don't give up, there are some fabulous buyers out there, it is just disappointing when you get a run of non payers - it happens to most of us from time to time.

If you open a non payment dispute on them at day 4, close it on day 8, they then cannot leave you any feedback at all, they also get a strike and any sellers who have blocks in place for 2 non payment strikes in 12 months wont then be bothered by them as they cannot bid.

I agree - in addition to the unpaid item case you should be able to leave negative feedback. A lot more people would care if their '100%' rating were to be in jeopardy if they were to reneg on purchasing

Do you really think that people who buy and don't bother paying give a stuff about feedback...I am sure they don't.

Really Negtive feedback effectivly does Nothing to stop buyers from buying and not paying!!
What does is going through NPB process and issueing a strike to Non-payer does!! this once reached 2 in 12 months WILL stop bidding on anything just as long as sellers set it as auto-blocking on 2 strikes or more.
Negtive feedback is useless this wont stop them bidding and sipearing. All Sellers Should go through NPB process and close & issue strikes if all did this the problem would be far less!!

How would leaving a non payer a neg warn other sellers?
Most of us have neither the time nor inclination to look through the feedback of every person that bids on our items so would not see the negs and even if we did that it wouldn't stop them bidding in the last few seconds or using BIN.
It is also open to abuse by carp sellers who would leave retaliatory negs for justified buyer negs then blackmail them into revising the feedback, I prefer to not have to compete against that type of seller.
If all sellers use the unpaid item dispute correctly and have their buyer blocks in place it gets rid of most non payers.
For pick up items have you phoned them?

Used to be that way, but resulted in a lot of tit for tat behaviour and threats.
leaving sellers vunerable to buyers nefs without retalliation, has seperated good sellers from those who bully buyers.
Buyers having negs will not stop them from buying, but may well prompt sellers into making assumptions that may be unjustified once a transaction is in progress.

Is it just me or is every second post about this exact topic? With the exact same posters replying with the exact same message....
"Negative feedback for buyers does nothing, use the system properly and file a NPB and put your blocks in place".
Can ebay put a thread with this explanation at the top of the "selling on ebay" board?
SIGH.

Hi, as a seller I find it very frustrating that the last couple of time buyers have returned the item saying it wasnt authentic when it was and another left negative because the maggie T top was made in China not Australia. Give us a brake, we have no say if a buyer doesnt want the item they can say what they like about it.If we stand up to them they leave negitive feedback as well so how can we win. I take great pride in my items and the quaility in them as I am sure most of us do but something needs to be fairer for us that are genuine sellers. Ebay change how the seller can leave feedback that is equal.
