Hi all, first time here, but have lurked around for a while.
I have a weird thing with an order this morning. Buyer purchased an item for $4.26, and paid $2.50 for Express Postage, order total = $6.76
Now, the shipping options available from my end are;
01 - Free untracked letter as default
02 - Tracked letter at an addon cost of $2.60
03 - Express at an addon cost of $8.20
I have flat postage rules which remove $2.60 and $8.20 as applicable from order total when buyers have multiple different items in checkout.
So, where I am stuck is, how on earth did the buyer end up paying $2.50 for a shipping option?
I have added some screenshots of the;
01 - shipping options on the listing (384480518229)
02 - Checkout shipping options
03 - My rate table, and
04 - The order summary (as a note, on the top of the order summary page, the postage method says Express post, indicating that is what the buyer selected)
I even added the exact same item to another account in the house and clicked all the way to checkout (choosing express postage as the option) to see what happened. As it should have, the order total was $4.26 + $8.20 = $12.46
I am really hoping that someone can shed some light on this. I can handle taking the hit on this order, but I am fearful of repeat occurrences.
Thanks, Charlie

Maybe a problem with ebay plus

Thanks for the link, am reading now.
So, do you think this is because the buyer is an eBay Plus member?
I am not one.
So eBay expects me to express ship an item for $2.50??
Cheers

As per the link from stawks.
Free post is one of the listing conditions that makes your item eligible for the ebay + badge, which then entitles ebay + members to purchase with additional benefits.

Yes. From that link, I would take Davewil's advice -
Don't offer 30 day returns, or
Don't offer an express option, or
Don't have 1 day or less handling.
Not having any of the above will mean your items no longer qualify for Plus.

Thanks to you both. Will delete Express option from my listings.

As for your current order, I would take Digital Ghost's reply from that link -
eBay considers priority to be express, for the purposes of Plus requirements. i.e. You don't have to upgrade letters to express parcels, just slap a 50c label on them.

Priority post counts as sending express for the purposes of the Plus Program - you are only required to whack a 50c sticker on it.
I really don't know how / why eBay decided that, I think it's madness from most perspectives (mostly because it's not actually an express service, it's a potentially less slow one that is supposed to just meet standard delivery timeframes when they started holding non-priority letters back a day or two, but also because there's no tracking and no way to prove you sent it priority unless / until the buyer receives it and sees it was sent priority and not express, this likely inviting "I was supposed to get express shipping!?" types of messages.
But, it meets eBay's requirements.
Edit: I were too slow - my post was sent priority 🤣

Am I missing something? The pics you have listed show the free postage option selected.
Why are you saying they chose express post?
I can see that they have been invoiced $2.50 but idkw.
p/s… I’m not a seller, so I can’t help you with a solution….sorry.
