Thanks for nothing eBay and Turbo Lister!!

I sat down to add more listings to turbolister for uploading.

Upon opening turbolister got a message for the, I think, yearly check that eBay asks for to reconfirm the link between turbo and my eBay account. Did that...cool.

Then spent 2 hours typing up of items to upload. Checked they were OK by "calculating fees". All cool.

Then closed turbo and got the usual advise about backing up my file. Said yes please.

Then got an error message!! There was a problem with the backup and it could not be completed. I clicked the only available button, "OK" and Turbo just closed.

I immediately went back into turbo and it was completely empty. Everything was gone!! All 150 of my old listings and none of the ones I had just spent adding!!

NOT ONCE did Turbo recommend I backup files prior to reconfirming my ebay link.

NOT ONCE did turbo recommend I backup prior to doing anything else.

NOT ONCE did turbo recommend anything or give any warning!!

The last 2 hours have been a complete waste of time.

THANKS FOR NOTHING EBAY!!!

I have restored the previous backup but that has NONE of the new listings I've spent 2 hours on!!

Do any of your techs actually test anything before implementing anything?? From all the faults and complaints I suggest not!!

Your boards are full of unhappy sellers and I can see why. Ebay just doesn't care.

Can I ask - did you type straight into Turbo Lister?

I always type my listing descriptions and titles into a notepad or word document first (then copy and paste over to TL) so I always have a copy of the info should something go wrong. It is no fun losing hours of work and I am always backing up stuff regardless of whether or not TL puts up a reminder.

I have TL set up to prompt for a backup before I download updates. Others have it set up to prompt for backups daily, or upon opening.

Your not setting this up is eBay's or TL's fault how?

I create most of my TL listings from templates or by copying an already there listing and all my descriptions are stored as templates on my template creator account so on the rare occasion I do have a problem with TL I can recreate the listing in seconds. I do backup very regularly and especially before doing anything other than creating a listing.

I always back up manually before updating, just in case.

True, perhaps I didn't backup my TL at an appropriate time. But then again ebay didn't provide many options.

I opened TL and it loaded blank...no entries anywhere...with an overlaying message that I needed to enter my ebay logon to reconfirm the association with ebay and TL. This I did. Once I hit enter, TL loaded as normal with all my entries etc.

In hindsight, perhaps  this is where I should have done a backup but neither ebay nor TL hinted that my data was in jeapody if I didn't. My TL mearly loaded and looked "normal". I entered new items. All was OK until an update was prompted. The update function lasted only around 10 seconds until an error msg flashed up with something like "There was a problem with your update" simple as that. Then my whole TL went blank...gone...zilch, nada nothing. I didn't get any option to reset, push a button, nothing. My only option after that was to reinstall the last update which I did.

I am not computer literate and only sell as a hobby so rely on a multinational like ebay and it's TL functionality to work. Sellers keep ebay afloat...no sellers no ebay so I had hoped both systems would mesh together a hell of a lot better than it did.

I guess I'll have to be more careful next time as your previous posts suggest there are TL problems but they can be worked around once you find what they are.

Many thanks for your replies

All my description are in Notepad files, all my pictures are on my computer.

If I do accidentally delete a listing when I shouldn't or TL crashes it is only a few listings that need to be recreated and the required information is on hand.
