The Insert Tab in the item description

I have just opened a new account after having had the original one since 2011 and having become a top seller. I have entered all the required information and listed my first item. In my original account I have an insert tab beside "HTML" above the description area, however this tab does not appear on my new selling page. Where can I find it or activate it?

Do you mean the standard tab next to the HTML tab ?

Are you using IE ?

Yes, that's the one I mean. I am using Chrome. In my main account, which I have been using for 5 years and am rated a top seller, an insert tab appears next to the HTML tab. I am wondering if eBay sees me as a newbie with my second account as I am only allowed ten listings a month. I giess eBay has no way of knowing I am an experienced user. I would like my new account to be recognized as associated with my old one. I suppose the answer could be that the insert tab only becomes available after you make a certain amount of sales.

Do you mean this?

If so, look for the "Add or remove options" link, click on 'Description' from the left menu (if not pre-selected), then tick to select the 'Description builder' option.

Thanks! I followed your instructions successfully. I would not have realised how simple it was without your help.

Digi, I have hunted and I cannot find that link anywhere - do you mean on the Create Listing page? Most of the links seem to have disappeared with the new streamlined listing page!  Sorry if I'm just being plain old dumb and blind.  Your help much appreciated!

On the create a listing page, sell similar or revise an item, up the top right corner you will see a link to change to the advanced listing took. Click on that. Ignore the warning and opt to change. If you are revising an active listing, there will be a link to that listing on the next screen. Clicking on that will open the advanced lister and most of the details should carry over. You can then follow DG's advice if it's not showing.

If you're creating a new listing, after you select to change to the advanced lister, the next screen you'll need to key in some keywords so it opens up where you can choose your category.

I used to have that option before the new streamlined listing page.  Now the only link in the top right corner is Send us your feedback, and below that is Find a product, which leads to a search for product identifiers etc.  Alot of the old links in each section seem to be gone.

I recently opened a new eBay account. eBay didn't know that I had had an account for years and, as seems to have happened with you, the first time I tried to list an item I was presented with a very basic (streamlined?) page. I also thought it must be a new, updated form, but then I noticed a line which offered me the choice of switching to an advanced page. I did that and the more detailed form appeared. I cannot remember off hand where that option appeared, but it is somewhere on the basic form you are seeing.

It seems to be one of ebay's little "foibles". ๐Ÿ˜„  Try revising a current listing, sometimes the link to switch to the advanced version won't appear when you start a new listing from scratch, but shows up when you revise one already listed (or a saved draft). From what other posters have said in the past, it might be 50/50, so if you don't see it when you go to revise a current listing it might still appear on a different listing, or try making a new listing, saving as a draft to exit, then going back and editing.
