The biggest fraudster on ebay - the winner is....

Anyone know of someone who can beat 31 negatives in a row for non existent items and still rising, and still listed on ebay? He really knows how to get round ebay. Sell lots, marks as posted, then 4 days later states refunded via paypal which is not a refund as he has already taken the money out. Cannot put  dispute on ebay as now on ebay as shows the false refund. Then need to dispute to paypal which is round 10 days. Ebay let him still sell a few more, despite letting them know over the phone, and as all his feedback start saying the same things he ends his items and goes private so no one can read his feedback comments. Stops him selling but his negatives keep rising as next batch of unsuspecting buyers get suspicious. Is this the winner of fraud for ebay in Australia for 2015, or maybe all time? Anyone know someone who can beat this record?

The fraud is being committed against ebay and/or Paypal. The buyer will get their money back regardless and if the seller has withdrawn the funds then ebay or Paypal will have to cover the cost.

The only downside for the buyer is it wastes some of their time and ties up their money for a couple of weeks, perhaps that is a just reward for being so stupid as to buy from a seller with a raftload of negs.

True, but there were no negatives when I bought, they all started to come after 4 days of selling. I always check feedback before buying. Everyones money tied up before Christmas too. I think he is the winner tho for the biggest con, will be hard to beat by anyone. Have a great Christmas everyone

I think in the OP's defence, most of those negs appeared after they had bought. However, it does always pay to read a sellers feedback! I just bought something from a lowish feedback seller with 86.7% feedback. I balked at first, but when I read the negative that had been left for them, amongst all the glowing feedback, I decided it should be OK to buy from them.

The neg was in relation to another feedback that mentioned a free gift, and they didn't get one. Maybe the buyer who spent a bit over $500 was worthy of a free gift as opposed to that one who spent $2.99.

There are plenty of Chinese scammers who end up with a mountain of negs. They will hijack an account, then create multiple new accounts to "purchase" items from that account to boost their feedback score over a level where their funds aren't being held. They then close all those accounts down and list scam items. Usually sought after items at ridiculously low prices.

People fall for these scams constantly. How anyone can think they are actually going to receive a brand new Makita drill with all the accessories for $19.99 is beyond me, but they sell out in days. They also list other items that normally sell for a few hundred for the same price. By the time the buyers work out their item isn't coming, the seller is long gone with the money. They stay quiet for a couple of months, then start all over again. The negs that turn up are usually enough to shut the accounts down.

The buyers often can't get a refund as they listing categories with no buyer protect, like automotive. It's only buyers in the know that know to push PayPal for a refund, which they eventually get. The others are out of pocket and the dodgy seller is laughing.

Why this one was even more vile, he managed to convince people to deposit into a bank account. No chance of recovery for those buyers. You are so lucky you didn't fall for it because you will eventually get a refund because PayPal will have to pay it out of their own pockets. Kudos to you for not falling for it! I just wish other buyers were as smart.

Have you reported the listing as fraudulent? (Assume it's the 500g satchels)

Select report item in the listing. There is a specific category for fraudulent listing.

That often gets it removed quickly.

Edit - Thanks tippy. Merry Christmas fellow boardie. Smiley Very Happy

Kopes, the listings have all been removed and the seller would be sporting a Below Standard rating by now. He was one of the more cunning scam sellers. I think multiple people reported them while the listings were still up, but for some reason, eBay hasn't NARU'd them yet.

eBay wont NARU a seller if there is an ongoing investigation where they believe they can retrieve funds.

This seems to happen when a scammer has members pay into a bank account.

Although it seems to be taking longer to NARU scammers,(it took over 3 weeks to NARU one and another

current one still hasn't been NARU'd).

It starting to look like they aren't being NARU'd till the negs start making an impact,(which makes a mockery

of Trust & Safety as they are supposed to check and remove scammers).

I guess that makes sense if they aren't NARU'd while there's an ingoing investigation, but it doesn't make it right. One has to wonder how they could do anything for buyers when they've paid into a bank.

I'm wondering whether they are at the point where they don't care any more because they still get their fees from the scammers. Small price to pay by the scammers by getting all that extra money for free.

It does make a mockery of the system though. If it was you or me that was doing it, they'd be shafting us quick smart. Or, look at all those reliable sellers who got kicked off for too many defects. They shaft them pretty quickly.

Maybe they could track the scammer via the authorities contacting their bank,Who knows.gif

They don't do anything for them,(if they ask they get a simple message explaining that they choose to use an unsafe payment method and are therefore not covered),stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

They don't collect any fees from the scammer as they withdraw all the money from their PP account and then

just start a new one.

That's what doesn't make sense as scammers hurt this site and eBay seem to have a lack of interest in

removing them,Angry head bang.gif

That's what made some members question over time whether the scammers were sanctioned by eBay,shok.gif

They have a system to punish good reliable sellers quickly but scammers can take weeks to get removed,(

if they are removed at all),stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif
