Very unfair negative feedback received from a 0 feedback rating buyer.

Hi all, how can I do to get Ebay to review and remove negative feedback a buyer has left for me. I sold them a COVER for a door draft stopper and they were expecting a cover and snake. The title clearly states the item is a cover and the item description says many times that the item is a cover only and buyer will have to purchase your own snake. No discussion was even attempted just neg. feedback left from a buyer with a 0 feedback rating. I requested a revision of feedback left by the buyer but they have formally declined stating the original feedback was correct. What can I do now? They also stated the item was overpriced and they thought it unbelievable they would have to fill the cover themselves.  Obviously they chose to purchase the item at the cost it was. No questions were ever asked before purchase and the description is clear that the listing is for a cover only. Im so angry.........

As someone who doesn't use a smart phone, can I ask what the issues might be - do titles and descriptions not appear properly on those smart phones/devices? Or is it carelessness on the part of the browser?

This thread has made me start to think...

I do not have one either, but I would imagine that as the screen is small the description is not easy to read.

On a smart phone (assuming that you're using the ebay app) the text is no less readable than it is if you had been looking at the listing on a PC.. If however you are using the classic site on your smart phone and the text is a bit small, there is a zoom function so there really is no excuse..

Sometimes I don't read listings properly as I am a bit of a compulsive shopper, but if I get something that isn't what I expected I accept that it was my fault for not reading the listing properly

someone commented earlier on the length of the OPs descriptions.  I looked at the listing that generated the negative and found it okay.  All the information needed to make an informed purchase is there.  HOWEVER, lengthy descriptions, especially when there are embedded photos, can get hard to view on a smartphone due mainly to the need to scroll a lot.

SO, some posters are of the view that accurate titles that can not be misinterpreted AND concise descriptions are better for those who use smartphones to shop on eBay.  If you enlarge the text on a smartphone page view then there is just so much more scrolling required to get through the whole description.

Ultimately though, it is still the buyer's responsibility to read the whole description regardless of their viewing platform.

Re: Very unfair negative feedback received from a 0 feedback rating buyer.

If you zoom in then you do not see the whole width.  So if somebody is going down the list of items they would not have seen the right side of the screen, all what they would have seen was "Draught Excluder, Door Draft Stopper,Door Snake...", then they would have looked at the picture and that showed filled snake.  They would not be looking for more; after all what more can you say about something like that 🙂

Sure, they should have scrolled down, and when unhappy they should have contacted the seller, but they are new ............   I would have contacted them, explained few facts of life on eBay and only then asked if they would change the FB.  Looking on the bright side, as total newbie they may have not left DSR, but if they did they can also change it - if eBay removes the NEG they will not alter the DSR.  Never waste your FB revision unless the buyer agrees to it in advance.

Even if the buyer is using some smart gadget I still think it is poor form to leave neg fb without first checking the listing or contacting the seller. Sure, ebay might remove the fb but in the meantime the seller has the stress of dealing with it, having it on full view to the world.

A buyer can stuff up yet still have the seller by the short and curlies. Just doesn't seem right to me. A newbie so keen/quick to leave a neg, wow.

But I am glad the OP posted because what has come out is some info on how better to word titles and descriptions. I know I will be rethinking some of my own when I get back into selling. Putting the most important info near the front of title or near the top of description.

Click on one of the topics such as Selling (under Trading on ebay) then find the button/tab (blue for me) that says "new topic" near the top of the page
