What has gone wrong on Ebay!!

Hi all, Sorry I am having a bit of a rant but am a tad frustrated by the selling process at the mo.

I havent been a seller for a good long while now, just a buyer, but thought I would get back into selling.  In the past as a seller, I rarely had to wait for my buyer to pay for what they bought.  Now I have 3 items sold and monies outstanding!  One as long as 8 days now and not a word from the buyer.  I have requested contact details and, of course, the number doesnt exist!

I think I will be scared back into not selling anymore as I dont think I can deal with these frustrating buyers!! Is this the norm now or is it the exception?

I must agree. eBay is going downhill. Have just started selling again. Last time I sold was six years ago. Defaulting buyers were extremely rare. This time around the stats for items I have listed are > 50% winning bidders not going through with the purchase. A lot of wasted time and lost sales opportunity.

What about people who put things on hold in a shop for 48 hrs and never pick them up is that stealing. The store can't sell them then has to re hang them and wait for them to sell.

Not the same IMO there is no legal sales agreement in place for stores to hold goods.

Gosh I would be happy to hold an item for two days for a buyer to make payment - 8-9 days is very unfair - my items on this id are mostly one only so thats just an unacceptable time to have off display one of your unique pieces, particularly when others miss out in an auction sale.

In response to your title question: "What has gone right on eBay?" might be more appropriate.

Re: What has gone wrong on Ebay!!

I have had occasion to view quite a few of answers you have posted in regard to the various topics raised in these forums and have noticed a certain pro-eBay bias in them. I may be wrong though, as I am not exactly a regular. For my edification, I would appreciate a link to any anti-eBay post you have ever made here or are you simply a paid eBay apologist?

The store can ask for a deposit before they will agree to hold the goods, though. They also have the chance to say no - neither of which can be done on eBay if a person simply confirms a purchase.

I don't liken NPBs to people walking around a store holding an item then putting it back, or asking if something can be held for a limited amount of time.... I liken it more to those shoppers that spot something they want, then hide it somewhere in the store to stop others from buying it, in the hope it's still there if / when they ever come back.
