What have eBay's Trust and Safety Department & the loch ness Monster have in common?

Answer  :  They are both a Myth.."A widely held but false belief or idea".

Now while I believe I have more of a chance of ol nessie popping up in my swimming pool tonight than ever

getting eBay to do their jobs and action at least one of the two hundred listing violation reports I have submitted to them over the past month, I was hoping that perhaps someone might still be able to give me some advice that will spur them into action.

I know this is not a unique topic and I apologise to everyone for this.  But here is my problem.

Over the past 3-5 years, while working as a Flight Attendant, I have purchased roughly $30k worth of Authentic
Children's Burberry Clothing items directly from the Burberry Boutiques in the U.S.  I have recently opened this new account and closed my previous one as my marriage ended and I wanted a fresh start from anything connected to the ex.  For the years 2013 + 2014, my sales were good.  I had Top Seller Status and was making a nice little profit from the amount of stuff selling.  This year however has been worse than bad.  My sales have completely dropped off even though I have them listed at lower prices than I did during the past two years.  So it got me thinking.  Why has this happened?  Is it a result of the economy? Is it because I have a brand new account and buyers may not trust my credibility? Or, is there more sellers this year also selling Burberry Kids Clothing and I'm either being undercut or they have a bigger range?  See that was the other problem.  With the new account, eBay put a ridiculously low selling limit on me and I was only able to list 10 items (however this has now been rectified).  So I take a look and NOOOO, its nothing to do with anything I had expected.  I almost fell off my chair when I looked and saw a few different sellers with over 100 fake Burberry kids items in their stores.  Worse still, these listings were selling like hotcakes.  Anyway, I did what eBay tell us all to do...REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.  I reported each individual listing from each seller pedalling fake product yet not one of the listings were removed.  So I then phoned eBay customer service.  I gave the girl the seller's id's and she said she would pass them on to the "Trust and Safety Department" people to investigate. So I'm thinking, finally something will be done.  But, again no.  I may have not even bothered calling.  Finally in

my anger, I sent them a email that took me over two hours to compose stating the sellers id, each listing number and how many items were being sold within the particular listing.  I explained in detail the reasons why I believe the items are fake (different tags, different way they size their items, the low prices, the incorrect look of the logo etc etc etc).  I explained that these sellers are in breach of eBay's VeRo policy not to mention commiting a criminal act.  And guess what? I heard back from eBay!!!  What they told me was

"We are not proceeding with the investigation against the seller as their feedback does not indicate to us that there are any customer problems"! F%@K ME.  So I wrote back and said "So its OK then if a seller breaches your own policies as long as the customer is happy is it?".  I have not had anything back from them in reply yet.

So guys, thats my story.  As a example of what I am talking about, please go to 251733513855.

This person is one of the main listing violaters and I just don't know what to do.  I have all this stock here

that I am certain is not going to be easy to sell as people are looking at the above mentioned sellers prices and then looking at the prices I have to sell at (as I paid up to 5x what this person is selling their fake stuff for) and then looking at that sellers price and either thinking to themselves "Man, that other seller (me) is a rip-off" or "I don't care if this might be a fake, its heaps cheaper than the real thing".

I would be really so grateful if anyone could offer some advice. I just want justice as one of the reasons I decided to trade Burberry on eBay was because they state they do not allow fake, copyright, replica items to be sold.  Yet because they don't give a rat's bum about their own policies, now I'm stuck with tens of thousands of dollars worth of stock that I can't move as eBay can't/won't do their jobs.

Thank You everyone for reading this saga.  Again I appreciate any/all help.

Cheers Woman Frustrated

They could....but you could also send them your invoices from your own purchases and get them to 'exempt you'...they might even do it in writing...unfortunately it's the 'chance you take'

Very True.  How Stupid Of Me.

Thank You for that VERY helpful advice.

I think I will do as you suggested with the screen shot and see what Burberry have to say.  I have all the

Burberry Boutique Receipts for all of the purchases I have made so with luck, they might give me a break.

Thanks again for all your help.

Is Burberry aware that fakes are being sold on ebay and ebay refuse to act because customers like the cheap fake items?

Basically the same situation as this one,

I wonder if apple are aware of this listing? But as long as the person paying top dollar for a fake is happy with the purchase then it must be OK!

ebay criteria.

What have eBay's Trust and Safety Department & the loch ness Monster have in common?

Hi

Thanks for replying.  I have actually spoken to a staff member through the au.burberry, com online chat service and told her what was happening.  She said that she was based in Singapore but would pass my comments on to the head office and was grateful for letting her know. That was about a month ago.

I guess I really should contact their legal department which is the area that handle these things as I have their direct contact details.  I'm just a bit worried though that due to the amount of fake stuff on eBay Australia, Burberry might tell eBay that no Burberry items can be listed at all from now on as the staff are obviously unable to handle the responsibility of removing the fraudulant listings and its too big a risk for them to allow their Brand Name to be traded on the Australian eBay site.

I personally couldn't blame them if they did say this but do you think they may respond with that type of thing? I would effectively be shooting myself in the foot if they did.

I appreciate your reading my messages though and thanks for replying. Any other ideas would be welcomed also !

There is a chance that Burberry might do that, What I also recommend is that you advertise the fact that you have GENUINE Burberry items, and let them know that you are noticing a lot of fake items appearing on ebay, market your advert around this.

A while back I faced a similar situation where I was selling mobile phones and competing with Hong Kong sellers, one of the selling points I highlighted was the A tick on the box, overseas models did not have this and went on to explain what this meant to the end user.

As time went on more sellers with Australian stock were doing the same, I also advertised that the stock came from Optus, Telstra etc and not sourced from overseas, I sold a lot of phones.

I am not the best for advice, but I do recall someone was trying to sell an authentic nutribullet on ebay and they had a hell of a time, ebay keep pulling it down, needing some sort of proof it was authentic or something like that ( meanwhile of course, all the cheaper copies were selling like hotcakes!)...so unsure what criteria they use to decide whose listings stay and whose go.. it may be just competitors reporting the listings, or even nutribullet not wanting 2nd hand items flooding the market and them not being able to sell new ones anymore?
