I don't sell a great deal on ebay, I usualy just buy heaps but recently due to a business closure I listed a number of ex stock items. First thing I found out is how many buyers click buy it now and then ask question, and then don't pay and ignore my messages. Then I had a purchaser who bid and won 10 items. The first communication I receive from him was a DEMAND for combined postage. I obliged but he was unhappy with the amount I quoted ($38) and sent me a message "Why should I pay this much postage when the items would fit in a 3kg satchel" I explained he had just bought 10 brand new items that retail for over $800 for under $80 and as I had made no profit whatsoever I felt it my right to charge for my time and inconvenience. He refused to pay this amount and threatened my 100% rating saying he would leave me 10 negative feedbacks. When I told him I did not wish to deal with him and cancelled the sales he refused my request to cancel and now ebay have sent me a message saying I still have to pay them for the sales. On top of that I discover I cannot leave a neg rating for him even if I go ahead with the sales. This stinks, no wonder people buy something then don't bother paying or like this guy demand combined postage AFTER the purchase. There has to be a way we can let ebay know this is a stupid practise that does not give the seller any rights at all. I will never sell on ebay again, I would make more profit having a garage sale!

I would be ringing eBay (and asking politely to speak to a supervisor if the first minion can't help you - usually the case.)
This person has asked for the discount after the sale, threatened you with bad feedback and then savaged your feedback and DSR"s in retaliation - ALL of these things are against eBay's own policies and guidelines, and they can read the exchanges between yourself and the buyer to validate your claims. I have found that in this situation, if you have all your ducks in a row and speak calmly but with some insistence, a supervisor will usually undo the damage.
The other respondents have also given some very good advice about heading off this sort of disaster in the future - eBayers REALLY don't like what they consider excess postage, regardless of whether they got a bargain or not!
Good luck,
Marina.

Usually ebay will edit or remove the comment but the negative rating and dsrs stay. In this case though it was clear feedback extortion and they should removed the lot.

I have had a negative comment (including the dot) and the associated DSR's removed immediately by a supervisor after a minion told me that they were happy to put me through to a supervisor, but that it was a waste of time "because no facility exists for the removal of DSR's".

Same as you can't then charge a ridiculous amount for postage because you didn't make much on the actual sale. It's the quickest way to get defecfed off eBay when the unhappy buyer negs the daylights out of you. 10 negs could well have been enough to drop you to below standard and then you can't sell anything.
If the buyer declined your cancellation request, then I'm afraid you have done your dough as far as the fees go. You could try calling eBay, but I really doubt they'll refund you the fees, especially if they read the messages between you and the buyer. Yes, he threatened you with negative feedback, but you also admitted that you made no profit so were making it up by charging too much postage.
If I got charged $38 for something that could have been sent in a 3kg satchel, I'd be pretty darn miffed too!!
I'm actually in the middle of a similar case myself... as a buyer.
I purchased an item that weighs only 600g and dimensions 17cm x 14cm x 10cm. I paid the postage in the listing, which was only 45c off the cost of a 3kg satchel. The seller came back to me afterwards and demanded that I pay a further $7 for the service. Of course, I said "no" and now I'm waiting for PayPal to process the refund he has sent from his bank account (a few days needed to clear). Suffice it to say, I'm not very happy. It sounds like the OP is in a slightly different situation because it appears that postage was not previously quoted, but yeah, like you sheep, I cannot help but see the buyer's perspective in this situation.

Your situation is different in that you paid what was listed as the cost - the seller is not meant to change that later. This buyer asked for a discount AFTER commiting to buy at the prices listed. Your seller has no right under eBay guidelines to ask you to pay more that the listed cost, and this buyer has no right to expect or demand a discount after the event, although there's nothing wrong with asking, and most good sellers would do so anyway for a sale of 10 items..

regarding thre bit about paying the ebay fees, unfortunately if you, the Seller, instigates the cancellation and the Buyer refuses to accept your cancelation. then YES you do have to pay eBay the fvf.
and Sellers leaving a neg. feedback? well eBay abolished that choice about 6 years ago.. nothing new there.

I would most certainly be contacting CS and requesting the Negative Feedback AND Defects be removed.
I just had a look at the disgusting and untrue feedback this buyer has left. Let's just say I wouldn't want them at my party !! They are most definitely one for the list !! Any hints would be appreciated . . . . . .
Sadly, as mentioned by others, your start prices were on the low side, but putting that aside, they bid and won, based on the fact there were postage prices quoted on every item. Those postage prices total $75.05. AFTER they had finished buying they requested Combined post which you offered at $38.00 - personally under the circumstances I think you were quite generous as really you were not obliged to give them any discount - and they are the facts I would be emphasizing to CS - along with the buyers initial Feedback Extortion threat and then foul mouthed Feedback.
Good luck, I think you have plenty of evidence to go to CS with and as has been said already, talk to a Supervisor - be firm & polite but very persistent !!
