What does the listing say? it should say what suburb/state it is in
Not ebay here, just members like yourself. Have you asked the seller ? does the ad say it is available to pick up?

As a general rule of thumb, local pickup means local to the seller
How far you are prepared to travel is up to you.

If you are looking to buy an item and the only delivery option provided by the seller is " local pick-up free" it means the seller has chosen not to mail the item. ( their item, their decision ) . You could contact them, as sometimes sellers are happy to mail the item if the buyer is willing to pay the postage costs. These costs can be VERY HIGH for heavier items, going interstate. A 10 kg. bulky item sent interstate could easily cost $50. The sellers location should be listed near the postage options section of the listing.
I note you posted your question in the selling section. If you are trying to sell something, ebay sometimes " helpfully " fill in some of the option boxes for you. This often includes the postage options. If the box next to " local pick-up free " has been automatically checked, you can hover your mouse and click on the box to uncheck it and then fill in the details you want for postage.
