Why does ebay not allow me not to accept e-Check payments? It should be the sellers choice not to accept them or not. I get uptight when buyers use them to manipulate prolonging payments.

There have been reports of PayPal processing payments as an eCheque when the buyer expected them to be instant due to their funding source (I vaguely remember in one instance, it was shown as cleared on the buyer's side, but a pending eCheque on the seller's, but even if that does happen, it would be a rare exception), other than that, some just don't know how long it takes to clear to the seller, and/or don't look at all of the available information.
I send messages too, explaining how I process orders paid that way etc, and so far they seem to have served me well.

They are not prolonging payment. All it means is they do not have a CREDIT card linked to their PayPal account.
And so PayPal dreamed up this idea of an e-Cheque. Whereas with normal banking practice it takes 3 days for a paper cheque to clear, PayPal stretches it to 5 days, even though the money has been taken from your bank account on the day payment was made - wonder how much money PayPal makes on the short term money market...!!!

Meant to also say that even when I did have a credit card linked to PayPal, any purchases came out of my everyday account, never paid by credit card.
So really it should be the equivalent of an EFTPOS transaction - if you've got the money in your account to pay, then the transaction should be approved immediately, there is no need for a 5 day delay by PayPal. PayPal's got the money, the seller has to wait.

Ah - but PayPal - get up to 5 days interest on all that cash - before having to pay it back.

Four weeks?? You must be joking?
Are you sure they are not being rejected because the buyer does not have enough funds. Paypal will try again to collect the funds.

Maybe you should check with your bank before reviving an almost 2 year old thread.
I doubt you would find anybody (other than you) who would be silly enough to let an e-cheque payment pend for that time.
