So I know this has been done, but I just got back after a 12 month selling hiatus.
The new fees, well, they shocked me. Its tripled my listing cost.
So it looks like ill be back for one single cameo appreance and then gone again.
I could live with the new fee increases and would even get myself a store if the free store listings included Auction.
eBay was founded on auctions, Why are the trying to kill them off?
And now I wonder why im even bothering to waste my time with this post.
I say lets all take our pitchforks and clubs and march on eBay headquarters!
Tally Ho!!!

I tried to list items with BIN about 12 months ago.
I had way less sell through rate. About 60% of the BIN's sold over a one month period, where as I was getting around 90% sell through on the Auctions.
And yes, your right, in one weeks time I will see if I am done selling on Ebay for good.
I would have been happier with free listings for all items and a higher FVF.

12 months is a long time online. Especially eBay.
The more the site changes things to, allegedly, disadvantage small sellers, the higher my sales. And I haven't changed anything, but my sales for the last three months are, month on month, double last year.
As somebody who has a record of 63 sales per month, I would consider myself a 'little bloke' (I can't be a guy as I am neither a Yank nor a tent support), but I am loving the current situation.

The free listings are a great deal and my fees are lower because I don't have lots of 50 cent non selling listings as before.

I continue to lament the changes to auctions, its lost me sales, customers and $$$ in my pocket.
In my ebay seller experience in all of my markets - auctions often attracted a different buyer than other buy-it-now users. So I am potentially losing some of these customers every week and the $$$ as I don't run near as many auctions as I used to, with the price tripled and in one market the higher value fees increased as well.
In general I have also noticed that Australia ebay sellers overall buy-it-now inc of post creep up across the board over the past 6 months.
As a buyer since the changes I am purchasing less and less via ebay and more and more from a broader range of online sites than I used to, as the competition on offer particularly in relation to new goods is expanding at a very fast rate with a broadening range on offer, and some terrific specials and offers that ebay sellers are not allowed to offer due to the limited system setup.

It's getting to the point where it's more expensive to trade on ebay that traditional brick and mortar shops. All the listings should be free and a fee should only be charged when the item sold like the good old trading post.We are paying fees at all ends.Ebay needs to consider the future as these concepts were built on the small people. Margins shrinking, expenses increasing, customers taking advantage, it will not be long before there is more exodous of sellers.

I would add that auctions seems to be exposed much worse than BIN listing. I mostly sell all my products as BIN but about 3 months ago I decided to put three items on auctions with $0.99 start price for 3 days each. My thoughts were I would sell items and I would get more visitors to my ebay store.
You know how much I'd got from selling them as an auction? The only bidders for two items were lucky to get each for just $0.99. It seemed nobody saw these items at all even at the end of each auction. I had 2 watchers only on each item and that's for brand new items that I had no problems to sell before for at least $30-39.
I was lucky I did not list all three items at the same time so when I saw two were sold for $0.99 I canceled the 3rd one. The third one did not even had a single bid at $0.99 and it was only two hours left till the end of its auction.
That was the item I sold 70 for $30 in just 9 months. Needless to say I had no increase in my store trafic.
I will never sell anything else on ebay in an auction format with the start price much below that it really cost. It was worse before because a lot of buyers who saw your auction also checking your store, but now nobody sees your auction-> nobody checks your store but somebody can get lucky to win your item as a single bidder for a super low price.
