full refund on pick up item without making a claim?

I sold some boxes as a buy it now and the buyer paid through paypal yesterday.

They picked up the boxes today then an hour later txt me saying

what she bought was not worth $48.00 and that I had ripped her off. ( even after I threw in extra left over boxes for free!)

I told her that if she was not happy then she should not have taken them.

She says that if she opens a case then it will negatively impact on my account and that I should do the refund without it.

I have never heard of picking up an item, taking it home and then txting for an item not as described later.

She said she is bringing the boxes back tomorrow and that I am a digrace for ripping her off. I told her I didnt force her to bid to begin with and my description was accurate.

What do I do if she doesnt put in a claim and dumps all the boxes on my doorstep?

In her feedback, she even mentions that she tried to negotiate a lower price with you ($3.00) at pickup.

I would defintiely report to Ebay.

And she is defintiely on my BBL

I have reported her to ebay and they are going to remove her feedback!

By not going about things the correct way I guess she was trying to get a discount/refund.

Why she bid to begin with if she wasn't happy with what I was selling is beyond me!

There are so many nice people on ebay ( and some not so nice every so often!) Thanks for everyones advice- very much appreciated!

The feedback is gone already! That was quick of eBay. She can stick that in her pipe and smoke it. Didn't get her refund, didn't get her discount, now she didn't get to neg you either. SUFFER!!!

So glad to see that sometimes eBay sides with the seller. It doesn't happen often, so nice to see it this time. Well done!

To be fair to the buyer, you did offer the boxes as a BIN with best offer.   When did she try and negotiate the discount which you refused?

I didnt decline any offers that were for $3 less than the buy it now price, the auction ended and she had hit 'buy it now' and paid straight away.

Later when I got home I looked in my messages and I realised that she had made an offer a few hours earlier ( i think this is what happened, but im having trouble working out what time the auction actually ended)  for that price but I was busy and did not know so how could I accept or decline before the auction ended?

I set my best offers to decline less than the lowest price id take but to check with me all offers over that to accept manually, to avoid having to reply to all the very low offers that are made.

Ebay reacted pretty quickly, they didnt ask to see a copy of what was in the txt even after I offered! So maybe that person already has a red flag on their account for this sort of thing!

I think you need to do a bit more reading about ebay.   You did not list the boixes as an auction....it was BIN with best offer and would have ended when the buyer hit the BIN button.   The listing would show you what time that was.

It appears that the buyer sent an offer and she believed that you were not accepting it because you did not answer immediately.  Buyers are warned to allow 48 hours for seller to accept/decline/counter offer.   If the buyer does not want to wait that long they can still override the offer by using the BIN button which she obviously did.

What I don't understand is why someone would pay for boxes that you can
get at your local supermarket for free.

Not even proper packing boxes from moving companies.

I've got a few friends that work at the local hospital. They get me brilliant boxes from there when I need them. A lot of my small packing boxes, packing peanuts, that thin plastic coated foamy stuff and bubble wrap come from there. I haven't had to pay for any packaging since they started getting it all for me. If I need a slightly bigger box I hit Bunnings up for them.

I mean as in did the auction end first or did it end buy buy it now?
where do I find out the time the listing started?

I had been collecting boxes over the last few years with friends help in case we had to move suddenly like last time the landlord decided to sell the house we lived in because he'd run himself into debt and gave us 60 days notice.

Not sure how many of you rent but 60 days while working a job 55 hours plus and managing a family, while looking for a new place to live in the super competitive rental market leaves people pretty time poor!

And being time poor and space poor I had to sacrifice some boxes to fit something else in-  Im sure eventually when we we move again I'll have to re buy some moving boxes!

They were listed as buy it now with best offer, they were never listed by auction. You can't have best offer on auctions, only straight buy it now's. If you go into your selling page to where the item is, click on it to open the listing, then click on the 1 under bids. That will show you that the buyer hit buy it now at the price of $48, that there was never any auction.
