I sold an item.
The buyer paid.
The buyer has 5 feedback, and created their account last December.
They then messaged me requesting a different address.
I explained that I could not do this and why.
They told me they could not change their address.
They said it should be okay to send to the address that ebay has, that would automatically print on the label.
But this still seems fishy. If I send it to that address, and they don't receive it, that'll still lead to problems right?

If they paid with PayPal then you MUST send to the address supplied by PayPal, otherwise you lose your seller protection. The only time I would vary from that is if it's being sent as a large letter without tracking. In that instance I'm going to lose an INR regardless.
If you send to the alternate address and then the buyer claims they didn't get it, you're stoofed. Nothing you can do about it. You lose. If the buyer wants it sent to a different address, tell them that you can refund the payment and mark as unpaid, then they can repay after changing the address in checkout.
The other thing they can do is sign up to My Post (it's free) and intercept the parcel before delivery. As long as it's not "onboard with driver", you can get it redirected. It can take 1-2 days extra, but it can be sent wherever they want it sent to.
Edit: snap Kopes! My post was longer so took longer to write ๐

Yep, was definitely paid with paypal (it's the only payment service I offer)
They've said just to mail it with whatever address ebay comes up with... I just wonder, if I send it that way I'm covered, right?
It becomes their prerogative to get the parcel redirected and I won't get slapped with an INR???

So I refund through PayPal, not cancel the transaction through eBay?
It's better to use the cancel transaction method, selecting "there's a problem with the address" as the reason.
It triggers a full refund, credits most fees (the 30c PayPal flagfall is lost), and doesn't result in a defect (if you issue a full refund directly from PayPal, sometimes eBay automatically issues an "out of stock" defect).

I have this happen from time to time. I just send to the address the buyer requests and take my chances that it all goes well. The only times I have been caught is when I,ve forgotten to go with the new address and send to the adress listed in the buyers ebay details. This usually results in stress and running around as the item is " returned to sender" or goes unclaimed if sent to a PO box.
PLEASE NOTE - this advice does not tally with ebays guidelines and you are not covered if the item is sent to any other adress, other than the one in the order details. If you are worried follow Digis advice and cancel using " there is a problem with buyers address" as the reason.

Same here.
